He might not be entirely sober in any of these live performances from this night but his voice is simply fabulous and the emotion and realness he gives this song is outstanding.. He definitely means what he's singing

He's plain drunk in this performance. It doesn't matter. Quite the opposite. It's a song about loneliness. Everybody who has ever been really lonely, for more than a few days, knows how easy it is to succumb to the alcohol in such a situation. It suits the mood of the song, perfectly. Dear Tim, I hope you're feeling better today. I really do.

"Mayday, Mayday I've been shot down over stormy sea Well, I feel like I'm driftin' away Can't seem to get a grip on me Now I can't even try" Everytime I hear those lines, I think of the "battle of britain" between 1940-1941. England was fighting against Germany at the "english channel". Imagine you are flying above the "Channel" in a plane, fighting your enemies until death. Imagine you were getting hit. Your engine is spilling drops of oil on your windshield. You know, it is only a matter of minutes until your motor is going to die by heat. When you come down, dozens of miles from any coast line seperated, you will be swimming in the cold water (IF you can get out of the plane, in time) for hours, until you can hope to get rescued by some allied ships. IF you survie for that time. But some of the bullets have hit you, you are loosing blood. Maybe only some minutes, until you get unconsiousness. Can you imagine how fuckin' lonely you might feel in such a situation? "I'm so fuckin' lonely..." I adore those lines. I am so desperate lonely at the moment. But there are moments in life of some unlucky people, where they feel even much more lonely, than I do now. God help them! I love this song so much!

This is such a miracle work: Bob Ezrin and Michael Kamen gave this song to no one but Tim Curry and he sang it with these fantastic musicians, especially Mr. Dick Wagner's guitar is masterpiece. Any other professional musician could not do better than them, I guess. I'm only a 21-year-old Asian and I always wish I could watch the good old performances like this. But still I'm very happy to listen to and appreciate them online. Thank you so much for uploading the series of this live performance.

I love the original version by Tim Curry. He picks me up and takes me to the bitter end! There aren't that many performers that can keep you in a bubble for minutes or longer. Tim can do it! In some places he reminds me of Frank N Furter at the end of the Rocky Horror Picture Show...Intense and very emotional! Thanks Tim

Wow.....! I loved this song, by Joe Bonamassa and was thinking he was the creator. What a surprise .... What a HUGE surprise. Tim Curry is x 10000 better. What a voice, what a soul, what a feeling ...... I'm immediately searching for the LP for my collection. Thank you so much for the video. ;)
@elduderino16355 жыл бұрын
The version of Bonamassa may be better in the way of musical artisanship. I like it, too. But it lacks the authenticy of Tim's version. Joe is a fine guy, but I doubt he has ever been through abusiveness to any drug (other than guitar playing). Tim knows well, what he is singing about. I do appreciate that. I was raised by heroin junkies, and am, myself, still alive, refusing any drugs other than alcohol. since the "love of my life" left me, three years ago. The alcohol really tears my down and will defeat me, eventually, in the long term, I fear. I've left all belief in a future which is not like the hell I am living in, today. Tim knows, what people like me are going through. I love him for that.

Some people come into this World to affect generations....- he certainly has, and does.....I bought this album when it first came out, on vinyl, and treasured this song, above all the others, because he sounded so "REAL" singing the lyrics.....It was what to me, describes "fame" - surrounded by strangers all the time, but lonely at the core. I will always love the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and all his future work after - hey anyone remember he was AWESOME in "The Hunt for Red October?!" with Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin!!! Such a superstar this guy - He is a true S T A R - for the ages. And yet so underrated and unappreciated by most. Hey Tim - there's millions of us who questioned their sexuality after seeing RHPS and we're better off FOR it - so for that - Hey man, - THANKS ~!

The way Tim Curry sings and Dick Wagner plays guitar is purest feeling and deepest emotion. Absolutely fantastic! I believe him every single word .Since i know this, i find Bonamassa's version a lil' bit boring and shallow. You can't top such a killer performance.

haha@. Joe takes the passion out of this song. He wont even swear in it. The F word is the crux of this song. Every emotion goes into that and it highlights just how desperate and lonely the singer is.
