Tim Ferriter, the father convicted of forcing his teen son to live in a box in the garage, asked to be released from prison pending appeal, citing job offers. Turns out, the offer from Mazada was a fake. Court TV's Julie Grant grills Ferriter's attorney who said they didn't know it was a forgery.

I find it a little ironic that Tim’s Atty is talking about how unpleasant jail/prison is for Tim because “we place people in cages” around the 6:30 mark. I guess he should’ve thought of that before he placed his son in a cage. She also states that he didn’t know that the Mazda offer was fake. There’s no way that he did not know that offer was fake… I don’t care if one of his family members gave the attorneys the fake letter or not… He knew. He absolutely should not be given any consideration, and I wish they could go back and adjust the downward departure and give him more time.

This is not the first shady thing his lawyers have done. They tried to go around the judge's order at one point, they tried to bias the jury by "accidentally" leaving in a video they shouldn't have, while labeling it in a very biased way for the jury to see. You have to be extremely gullible to think they made "another" mistake with the job offers.

I learned quickly that children's rights were superseded by parental rights.Poor Tim, he has to be in a cell. I bet no staff has yelled belittling threats 24/7 like he did to his son. This whole trial she put through the victim, a mere child under the bus and try to make him look like a sociopath. My children went to school with him and said he was the most pleasant sweet kid they have ever met. He wore the same shirt every day and did not have a backpack. The kid was abused beyond belief. He had no food no water, was beaten with jump rope and belts, left in the dark with no air conditioning on a hot garage. I find the worst thing about this case that was that he had no control over anything, he never knew when his perpetrator was going to come to the box and beat him up. I don't even know how the kid focused on school at all can you imagine during covid when school was closed that he was in the box every day without a break and I can imagine during Christmas or Thanksgiving how he got fed shreds and leftovers, he never got a meal just a slice of peanut butter on bread. I don't know how any of the teachers did not pick up on how malnourished this kid is. How do you send your kid off to school knowing they didn't have any food and they don't have any food when they return. The only thing that gives me any satisfaction is that Tim will never be able to have a job again unless he is employed by a friend but nobody will deal with him in the public it's too much of a public case. If he ever did get a job people would run from him . I heard that Casey Anthony does not have a real life after her despite the fact she was found innocent. I don't think that Tim will ever generate a high income again based on this crime

That’s either really bold or dumb of the attorneys to submit fake job offers to the court. The only reason they were caught was probably bc of how public this case has been.

Not very often narcissists like Tim get caught and held accountable. I have a stepfather that should’ve gone to prison for the way he treated me and my sister but my mother protected him and was therefore complicit in the abuse. We were afraid she’d disown us if we messed up her life by going to the police. She’s with him till this day. I’m glad the child got justice. It reminds me there is justice out there, even if we didn’t get it. It confirms what happened was wrong and that there’s a system out there that takes abuse seriously.

Any Child that is held in a cage or basically a prison room is absolutely going to have behaviour problems. And then she actual audacity to talk about the father having a hard time in a cage, but he imprisoned his own son. WTAF is wrong with that attorney? And to not check the validity of the letters is pure incompetence on the lawyers.

Common sense would immediately question, what company would want this POS working for them while he waits for sentencing? No company wants that negative attention. His lawyers knew this was fake. The only place he could work would be for a very close family members business, or maybe this law firm.

@ibelf2465 I wondered about the wife, too. Someone close to him did this with or without his involvement. Then again, why would his wife jeopardize her case before her trial if it is found that she was involved in the creation of the document? To flee the country perhaps?
