The problem with this guy is that he still doesn't think he did anything wrong. He was praying all through the trial (I guess he thought God would rescue him). That is the issue here. He is a sadist and enjoyed the belittling of the boy every night. We haven't heard any apologies from him and there is no remorse whatsoever. He should get 40 years with a chance at parole. If he gets the help he needs in prison and shows true remorse he should get parole. This is not a wrong attempt at discipline this man enjoyed bullying the kid. If he never changes or makes any attempt to change he will serve the full 40 years.

They watch TV in jail, don't they? I thought I remembered something about that and them liking to watch Court TV. Makes me wonder if the other inmates were just drooling waiting for him to get there so they could give him his karma. I've heard that child abusers are the lowest on the totem pole in prison and they are treated the worst because a lot of those guys in there were beaten and abused by an adult when they were just kids.

His son was in a box with a bucket for years, and he wants bail after staying for few days! He should not have a presentencing bail for his comfort! The presecutor's reasons were clear that he must remain in jail! What if he meets his childrens without knowledge? What if he schemes something with his wife? Why should the community have to worry about him living near by?

The dad wants a bond but he didn't give his son a bond. He should have known that it's wrong to kidnap your family member - so much sympathy for a dog. Real dogs don't treat their family this way.

I can still hear Tim yelling at RF, saying “you think your a tough guy “ now look at Tim,he is shaking in his seat & he has only been in jail a few days. Tim is in his box now where he deserves to stay & sadly he is still being treated better than he treated his own son. I feel no pity for this man who had a privileged life and treated his son so cruelly & inhumane. I pray that Tim receives 20 years in prison and is never allowed to have contact with his adopted children again. I also pray that RF is with a family that will shower him with love, attention, and encourage his scholastic journey as he seems like a bright young man. I also hope that Tracy does not get to plea her sentence now that she has the benefit of knowing her husband’s fate.

Apparently the Ferriter's youngest son was adopted by his grandparents. Ferriter's wife's parents. The plea deal included rolling over on his wife so he said no, let's go to trial. In a few short weeks he has changed! Scruffy, hair not fully combed, tattoo's on his left arm, we didn't get to see before. And he looked scared! I don't know what all his shivering was about.

Newsflash Judge Coates DENIED Ferriters' request for pretrial release on bond citing that the risk of a substantial and severe sentence poses a powerful incentive for the defendant to flee the jurisdiction and represents a substantial change in circumstance the defendant faced pretrial versus the circumstances and reality he now faces post conviction and adjudication...I like this judge. He recognizes the damage this man did to his own son and also sees the need to be firm and address a parent's responsibility in getting proper medical and mental Healthcare for their child.
