"Nobody ever learns who they really are by being told. They have to be shown. You have to wrestle. You have to experience weakness. And then finally you see where the blessing should really be coming from."

4 min from end: 'very often you feel like your heart's dead doesn't matter' ... I struggle through we keep praying, meditating, obeying, failing, trying again til we sense God's presence in our life.

3:20 Heidelberg theses, 19, 20 & 21. Theologian of Glory (unworthy theologian, moved by wisdom of the world), superceded by grace by the Theologian of the Cross (a worthy worker). In Life: I see some pastors saying 'look, this disaster shows those people are disgraced by their sin', or 'look, this politician will lead us closer to God' - these are theologians of glory. They don't yet understand the cross. I praise God for revealing this to Timothy Keller, to Paul and to many others, but still few compared to the great numbers of people following glory. I thank God for revealing this to me. I pray He reveals this to you and rejoice with you. I'm 56 and i move like it. I was squatting down to do my work and a man a little older than me said 'you can squat down pretty good! You're blessed!' I was unappreciative, I wanted to move like a younger man; i see better now. I'm blessed.

Walking with a limp. Why limps can be your best friend - in the end. Great quotes and wisdom not of this world yet world changing.

10:14 onward strikes me as overstatement of an implication of the gospel at the expense of its primary meaning.

One will never learn who he truly is without wrestling or struggling(including prayer). You are broken before you are made whole. You will walk with a limp but made in the image of Christ.

5:00 to ...? The wisdom of God 'supremely revealed' in the cross... Who will talk with me about this? 'Three times i prayed, but the Lord said to me, "My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." "The wisdom of God is foolishness with men." Jesus suffering.... With Joy. Comforts too - naps, wedding parties, dinners, friendships. The Lord 'for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, scorning it's shame.'

Jacob worshiped leaning upon his staff. We wrestle through life and then once crippled, we worship. Wrestle or worship, wrestle or worship.

Am I taking it wrong, the message said there was a prophet that says Jacob is the one to be blessed. I can't find it in the book of Genesis. Is it from some other book?

His victory was His defeat! 1 HIS VICTORY ON THE CROSS WAS HIS DEFEAT. HE HAD TO DIE (His man part) WITHOUT SINS ! 2 This is because His man part was to be glorified after resurrection with the same Glory of God Logos that was before the world was. [John 17:5] “And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was”. The man part in the godman, is asking here to receive from the Father the Glory of God/Logos before the world was. This request to the Father was to entitle the man in the god-man to become ~ONE WITH GOD LOGOS- 2 natures ONE GOD~! THE 2 NATURES OF LORD JESUS If it is possible, let this cup pass from Me kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp3Vl6R6fLeqrpI Lord Jesus was to become~ the head of the Body the Church~ after His resurrection for the Salvation of man 2 NATURES ONE GOD ! [Α Colossians 1:18] “He is the head of his body, the Church; He is the source of the body’s life” 3 The Church created by the Holy Spirit the day of Pentecost was/is no a building but the ~Body of Christ~ TWO natures ONE God! In [ Colossians 1: 24] we read: “Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church: During the Holy Sacrament of Baptism, Christians are united with God Logos “two natures One God” who is ~the Body the Church~! [Colossians 1:18] “He is the head of his body, the Church; He is the source of the body’s life” The Church as the Body of Christ orthodoxinfo.com/general/stjohn_church.aspx

Great message but I weary of people saying that Joseph was a spoiled, stuck up kid when that is a complete assumption. The text never says it. He was favored by his father but that was his father’s sin. He was given dreams from God that he shared and his brothers hated him for it. That was their sin not Joseph’s sin. Don’t project your sinful assumptions on Joseph. He was a type of Christ. Hated for Presenting God’s plans that usurped the plans and pride of men who sought to kill him.
@NerdilyDone4 жыл бұрын
Well, I'm not sure about that. You have to remember that Joseph was the kind of guy that would brag about his prophetic dreams to his family despite the fact that those dreams were about them submitting to him. That's pretty arrogant.
@TheCruiseDog3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Lou, you have picked up on a "schism" in the church. I was raised in the more common Bible Belt church where I was taught that Joseph was an image of Christ and his humility. He was a precursor to the Suffering Servant who would redeem his people. So, this was my upbringing as to the kind of person Joseph was. Imagine my shock when I was exposed to the Reformed idea of Joseph as this arrogant figure. Could this be the real Joseph? Had I been taught wrong all these years? After careful study, I have come to conclude that neither is right. It is not one extreme or the other. The truth is that Joseph is human and acts that way sometimes. Sometimes, he acts like Christ. But, I don't think he can be classified as strictly arrogant or strictly Divine. But, still, to this day, I can go into these two great church traditions and get two different takes. I do think it be more accurate to skuttle our biases and let the scriptures speak for themselves and reserve our judgements. Let the story speak for itself.

A man physically wrestling with God all night long, sure sounds like a “story” to me. There’s also another story where Mohammed flies to heaven on a winged horse. Then there’s another story where Jesus physically floats up into outerspace, in one of the gospels anyway.
@iain56156 жыл бұрын
Floating up into space was not stated. He ascended into heaven, basically transformed to enter the heavenly realm.

@@iain5615 How does "ascended into heaven" look different from floating up into space? Is heaven up? And on which side of the earth?

@@zach2980 floating up into space means going higher and higher at a slow speed in an uncontrolled ascent (buffeted by winds and not holding one position) until he disappears as a speck and carries on rising for miles more unril finally reaching space. The bible states he ascended into heaven standing until finally disappearing in a cloud before two angels appeared. Slightly different as it describes controlled ascent to the clouds which has biblical meaning within Daniel. It was at Jerusalem from Mount Olive.
@zach29806 жыл бұрын
@@iain5615 :), Well that explains it, totally different indeed. Pardon my sarcasm. Here's a thought, if in twenty years 2/3 of theists are Muslim and in a bid to maintain homogeneity it's claimed that a text is discovered whereby upon arrival Jesus disappeared into the cloud to be met with Muhammad and then under cloud cover horse-pooled on up to heaven. And that the great theological minds e.g. Keller, John Piper, Pope Pedofile Coverupper Whoever, P. Robertson, Osteen, Rick Warren, etc. convened to conclude that's it's legit. Would that make it true? Such is the case with the current gospels, 4 of many that were chosen from.
