Hey Everybody!
Tim Larkin here. Today we continue with the 2nd part of our interview with Geoff Thompson. He has seen extreme circumstances, dealing with multiple attackers, and has lived with extreme violence. He is now a very prolific writer on self-defense and needs no introduction in the world of self-defense. I hope you find it as useful as I have. If you haven't seen Part 1, please use the link below and watch it first.
In Part 2 we speak about his experience as a bouncer in the nightclubs of the UK and the psychological impact.

I have the upmost respect for Geoff, not only as a martial artist or for being a real pioneer of what we call now "reality based self protection", but for his ability to overcome his inner demons and serve as a beacon for us who are still fighting against our own demons.

It would seem that the more one is experienced in violence or violent environments, the more one is forced to confront the philosophical, spiritual, and psychological ramifications associated with the root causes and consequences of violence. A very interesting video that addresses such an often overlooked aspect of violent behavior.

Geoff, along with people like Gary Spiers and Steve Morris were true pioneers who realised that there was something wrong with the mindset of martial arts. They weren't the first to understand the value of a simple skill set, pre-emption and understanding the sequence of events that precede violence, but they were among the first to expose the general public to these ideas, rather than security personnel, the military and the police.

After having spent the last several weeks considering and studying hermitism and primitive esotericism, this man knows what he's talking about. He's moving me with the deepness of his words. When I heard the guy wrote 50 books, one thought came to my head which is that someone who writes 50 books is either doing it for money and is full of shit or has an extradimensional passion in them and an overflowing cup in the soul. This man is the latter. I suspect he could write 50 more books if he had the energy and the time.

I've never been in serious violence throughout my life but I really understand what's Mr.Thompson talking about. But for me, the world is more like purgatory rather than the hell. I grew up in relatively happy home environment so I really don't know what went wrong with my life. The philosophy of Geoff Thompson remind me Joseph Campbell's narrative theory. I suspect such experience are common symptoms for the people living in modern society but I think nobody can teach me how to get out of there because we're all living in a different world...Just saying. But I always wanted to know this process happens to everybody or only somebody who had a depression when they were young.

@Luke Magro sorry you took it that way. There is a lot of great info in this multipart interview about multiple attackers , going to the ground, weapons etc… Geoff is a true subject matter expert. His life has been about his relationship to violence and I’m sure some of the books and subjects he mentions seem to be unrelated but I assure you they are very relevant. But I understand if you didn’t feel it was straightforward info like some of my other guests. Appreciate you following the channel.
