The whole thing really catches everyone off guard. I think the writers are trying to get us to feel what Tim felt. The former version of himself, he hates, & doesn’t want to bring anyone down by it. Lucy could honestly answer Gray when he asked if he put her in an uncomfortable situation by what she knew. And Tim, in his black & white world, sees this as the best route because at least he’s not bringing anyone he loves down with his past issues. The tough part is Tim had started learning about open communication & was attempting to improve in that area. Communication was always Lucy’s strong point & she really helped Tim in that area. I feel bad for Lucy as she definitely cares for Tim & vice versa. If Lucy knew the whole truth, she would be in a dilemma and Tim didn’t want to put her in that difficult circumstance. The crazy thing is she actually covered for Tim & all of his issues back in the TO days….I do think it will ultimately resolve itself with them getting back together but I think it will take quite a while. Tim knows exactly why all this happened, & Lucy will understandably have trust issues. If they don’t end up back together, it actually makes everything else in their relationship look fake in the past seasons when that is clearly not the case. They do care very deeply about each other.
