This song reminds me of my ex, Hannah. We loved each other so much, spent so many wonderful days together. But we just weren't compatible. I don't know how else to explain it. I didn't treat her right at all. I neglected her and didn't give her the attention she deserved, because she deserved so much better. I decided to move on from her, it was best for the both of us. I broke up with her. But I still loved her, so it was a painful decision I had to make. She finally moved on after months of trying to get us back together. She got together with this firefighter in town and she loves him greatly. Makes me sad things couldn't work out between us, but I'm happy she's finally happy. The guy she's with now is doing such a better job then I could've done. I find this song to be such an accurate portrayal of that situation. "New wind is gonna find your sail", it surely did for her. I miss you Hannah, and I love you. I'm sure I'll be beating myself up as the years go by that I didn't make things work. But you're happy now, that's all that matters.

I love this song, though I feel bittersweet when I hear it. I've had a tough life (20 years to be exact) and a lot of loss these past few years. My Papa was my father he helped raise me. He had Alzheimer's and he died in January 2013, 4 months later my great grandfather died. I was there for both deaths. Maybe this one doesn't count, but the dog I got when I was 10 died this year on my 20th birthday. I miss them all so much. Also to everyone out there who has lost somebody, I'm so very sorry for your loss. All we can do is stick together and support the people around us and each other. Corny I know! For my aunt who passed from cancer. My mom and I used to listen and sing together. So many similarities with this song and the time. She died in January for the snow to start falling and waves crashing was when me her and my sisters were in Florida right before she died, my mom and me were sitting out watching them..When your out walking is for my grandparents who walk EVERY day.. cancer can't hurt her anymore. At her funeral the preacher said "wind found her sails and she is in heaven".. little things that add up. Crazy how songs do this.. RIP Aunt Joan. you are never forgotten.
