Totally agree. The first time you see a sketch, you're just laughing. The second time, you catch lines that you missed the first time. The third time, you notice all the other little things - throwaway lines, people's expressions, etc. After that, every time you watch it, you can recite every line while laughing through the entire sketch.

It says a lot that the show is comprised of rejected skits and 10x funnier than anything SNL has done in the last 5-10 years. I wish SNL would just lean all the way into absurdism instead writing skits where the punchline is like “what if one guy is awkward”. Tim Robinson’s acting makes a huge difference executing that premise
@Genious.
@Genious. 2 жыл бұрын
@@solodolotrevino You make a really good point about his acting. Watching his show, it always feels like voyeurism, where SNL always feels like a bunch of people, who can't perform without directly reading off of cue cards, performing and mugging for the camera. I never have a cringe moment watching SNL anymore. Maybe it's the constant applause breaks, in lieu of genuine laughter, that has ruined it for me.

@Genious.

@@xeviousstevenson8579 So they deserve more respect simply because the mediocre sketches they produce that are read, poorly I might add, off of cue cards simply because the show is live? All I can say is what I see - and what I see makes me laugh, at most, maybe twice a show and usually in Weekend Update. Portlandia, I Think You Should Leave, while not live, are simply funnier shows, executed better and best of all, aren't competing in the 'woke olympics'.

Being I'm not a (insert name for person that studies bugs), I thought those red-eyed cicadas were going to have a bigger presence than they did across the U.S. Seems to depend upon climate and/or environment. Would make for a funny skit. I live in metro Detroit where there are trees of course but not a ton but I've not seen a single one. Weird looks (funny costumes that are greeen-ish with red sunglasses) Big giant sex party Cicadas are loud Good party music (again a big giant sex party) Plenty of directions to go with it but is limited of course in a live skit but probably like a lot of writers I imagine, have to appeal to a wide base and I'm not sure how many of us in the U.S. really know about bugs. It can be partly fictionalized for fun of course and deviating from a somewhat more strict scientifically accurate skit.

Seth slightly annoyed "...alright, do your kids watch it?" had me lol'ing. This interview reminds me of his interview with Colin Jost, when he was promoting Sonic The Hedgehog. It was a hilarious train wreck lol

Correction: while Colin’s interview with Seth was hilarious, Colin was in Tom and Jerry, not Sonic the hedgehog. Please have a good day, and god bless you

There's that party question "What three people would have over for dinner?" My answer is "Does it have to be 3? And can you hold on while I pull up a list of all SNL cast members and writers in the last 20 years?" I just love the energy that they all have together. And I love all the "Yes. And"ing they are doing about the bugs and birds.
