8:19 Elephant my first memory goes all the way back to daycare/preschool when I was about 2... Picture day.. The guy taking our picture taking our pictures Freaked me the heck out. I remember wanting to get away... And the picture he captured.. Is an all time family favorite.. Oh the pout... :)

I love the fact that you praise the actions your kids do ("great job at ...") rather than just sayng "good boy/girl." The first emphasizes that our behavior is a choice (which it usually is) while the second makes it seem that it's an immutable character trait, I also like that you help your children to have a voice by giving them words to say. Notice how Cadie was paying attention as you were teaching Timmy how to introduce himself?

What a day . . . . I'm sure once the overwhelmingness of those first few days of being in a building for some time without parents or siblings anywhere in sight, Tim will probably start remembering names of other children. My first memory of school was my mother showing me a picture of my schoolhouse on fire when we were living in Lucknow, Ontario, Canada. Probably not a great memory. In fact I may have that picture in storage somewhere. Sorry I haven't responded in a while . . . . was gone for a week camping (no WIFI) and then was in the hospital with pancreatitis for a week just after. I'm at home now, recovering, and building up strength for my next vacation. A week with my cousin up in Mackinaw City, MI at The Beach House. Look it up on line to see pictures. It's great! Been going there for almost 25 years in a row. God Bless!

Elephant at 8:19 I have a few early memories from school, all from pre-k. The first is seeing a rainbow outside, the second is the teacher asking each kid to go back to their seat as an animal (I was asked to go back to my seat as a snake), and the third is participating in a dance from a different culture (I think it was an African dance) at my school.

My earliest school memory is when I got in first grade, we had the day before school started that we met all of the kids and we were sitting and telling our names to each other. I am 16 now I was 6/7 then I am almost finishing school now, 2 years left. Gonna be in 11th grade, better wish myself some luck.
