Bro, I'm half-pakhtun (but from Swat valley in Pakistan, not Pekhawar ya da Afghanistan) and I'm literally so impressed. Your vocabulary is amazing, and thought your pronunciation was stiff (this was years ago though), it's very hard to train an English tongue into learning how to work with all these different sounds that require new parts of your mouth to come into play. Either way; can't imagine how you speak now, most assuredly way better than me lol. Hopefully I can get back in touch with that part of my history and re-learn it ....... somehow.

In fact, some of what you said I only picked up because of the aid of subtitles lol. Might be more helpful for someone who is more familiar with the dialect you are using to give you any pointers or critiques. They're both members of the Indo-Aryan family, but Pashto has a number of grammatical features (gender, case, ergativity) which Farsi/Dari dropped thousands of years ago. For me, the two do sound very similar, but one unique feature of Pashto is that it has retroflex consonants and several distinct fricatives (dz, ts). To me, at least, Dari accents tend to sound more nasal, but it changes noticeably from region to region. In terms of vocabulary, they are very similar indeed. Hope that helps!

I like this! Your accent is heavy, but as another non-native speaker, I feel more comfortable since you have an accent.

I'm a Pakistani pakhtun. The pashto you're speaking is afghan dialect but I can understand it completely. In Pakistani pashto words like yakshambeh, mamulan and bayad etc are either non existent or rarely used. In Pakistan we use urdu words instead of them. If you're a Pakistani and wanna learn Pashto, then learn Pashto as spoken in peshawar or Quetta ( preferably peshawar). It's easy and contains a lot of urdu words making it even easier for an urdu speaker. Good luck.

Wow, listening to a white dude speak pashto makes the language sound very similar to Hebrew with the STRONG use of the 'kh' sounds, which makes me further believe that the pashtuns are the long lost cousins of the Jews. After all they are referred to as the lost tribe of Israel!!

i have heard to speak in Pashto, spoken by natives. And the real Pashto doesnt sound, like the Pashto pronounced by him.XD.The ,Pashto spoken by natives ,sounds very different.(At least,to my ears). The Pashto of Tim sounds like Hebrew/Arabic Xd because he learnt those 2 languages before Pashto ,and they have influenced strongly, in his Pashto.Especially ,Arabic.:D. His Wolof too.The Wolof spoken by him, doesnt sound, like the Wolof spoken by natives.XS.His Wolof is Arabized too.,and it has received influences of Arabic too.))XS.Something that i admire ,and that i respect a lot ,.I find great, that he speaks with an Arabized accent ,when his native tongue is English. This guy deserves, and has, the biggest of my respects. An incredible talent.A crack for learning languages.:D.RESPECT.))
