He can go much lower than this. I've known Tim 30 years. He's the real deal. A humble and super nice guy. I've stood by him and heard him sing off mic, and he's amazing, a freak of nature. LOL. His vocal cords are twice as long as the average male. Tim Storms is friends with Avi, Tim Foust, and Paul Kennamer. Those guys have all said they can't go anywhere near as low as Storms. Both Avi and Foust call Storms their hero. What people think is fry is not. I'm telling you he does not fry. It sounds fry at times yes, but he's actually that low without frying. His voice is almost unbelievable.
@jonas8993
@jonas8993 2 жыл бұрын
It is fry tho. Apparently it's some kind of extended technique, like controled fry with some resonance and pitch. Compared to anybody's fry which isn't controled or whatever. But it is fry, I think, as soon as you hear that the sound isn't connected and you can hear every vibration or something, it's fry. That's my understanding

@@controlman7490 I'm not saying he cannot sing lower than most people, he does, and he does has the vocal cords for that. My point is, it is fry. I learned that from one of the reactors on youtube who is a qualified professionnal bass singer who knows Tim ans his techniques. As I said, it's trained but when he drops really low it is fry. And yes, on some low notes where you or me would go to fry because it's too low for us he would still be able to sing without fry
@controlman7490
@controlman7490 2 жыл бұрын
@@jonas8993 When he sings so low that the human ear can't even hear it that's definitely not fry. The man's vocals are just that low. He uses fry sometimes, but it's usually his ridiculously low-pitched voice.
@jonas8993
@jonas8993 2 жыл бұрын
@@controlman7490 honestly, with all respect to him, he is amazing in my eyes, but the "so low human ear cannot hear it" is a scam kinda thing. Tipically the thing I would have taken seriously as a kid, and without trying to understand it. He has human vocal cords, just pushed to the extreme and so he goes very low, but the negative octave like G-7 or whatever people talk about makes no sense. It's like saying Dimash can sing a G12. If you're sick and that your lungs or throat does some weird stuff you might make a G-7 or whatever. It's just not that the guy and his vocal cords are miles away from other bass singers so that he can "sing" multiple octaves below. And about the fry, in lonesome road, everytime he does very low you can hear that it stops connecting, it's way cleaner and more controled than anybody else, but it is disconnecting and so that is the definition of vocal fry. The guy is amazing but human, if you do some basic researches on sound and waves, you'll know that you need something not human to "sing" so much lower. Like a whale or whatever who can have meters long vocal cords

Storms' Guinness World Record for the lowest note produced by a human was first certified in January 2002. Storms also holds the Guinness World Record for the widest vocal range for a male. His records have been published in the Guinness World Records 2006. He broke both of these records in August 2008. As of 2008, the new record for lowest note was 0.7973 Hz, and the new record for Widest Vocal Range For Any Human was ten octaves. In 2012, Storms reclaimed the record for the Lowest Note Produced by a Human. The new record is G−7, or 0.189 Hz, eight octaves below the lowest G on the piano, or just over seven octaves below the piano. The most recent published record is in the 2020 Guinness Book of World Records.

I read that he is measured below 1 hz which is amazing. Most of us have a hearing range down to 20 hz, some a litlebit lower, infants hear down to 15 - 16 hz but then the hearing fades. So we are not hearing but the top of his voice, the rest is down in the infrasonic area.
@46wireboy
@46wireboy 2 жыл бұрын
Where did you get that infant hearing range? It's nowhere that I can find. Storms supposedly got down to 0.189 hz, but that's longer than one cycle per 5 seconds, right? Seems ridiculous.

@@46wireboy I don't remember where I read it but this 20/20 rule is not sacred. Musicians with a well trained ear have more range. The thing about ultrasonic low frequencies is that although we may not hear them they do modulate the higher frequencies and the effect is quite dramatic.

It was listening to him that helped me self teach myself how to use my voice. I'm pretty sure my lowest note isn't as low as his G-7, I don't know that I can get below one hz, but he did, his world record is 0.189 hz. But after 6 years of figuring out how to use my voice, I don't think I'm far away. I do know for a fact I can get down to 5 hz, which I think would be somewhere in the -4 or maybe -5 range, so I definitely know what bass sounds like, but I still say Tim is the lowest there is, and I firmly believe no one can take that away from him. 😀

He can go a lot lower than that, yes, about 6.5 octaves lower. But 2 things: 1- I think around D-3 or sth like that it becomes inaudible to human hears, Guinness world records used a machine to measure his lowest notes. His official full range is 12 octaves (G-7 - G#5) 2- He only has recorded notes down to around G#0, notes below that tend to not be very musically useful, since they are barely audible anymore. If you want to hear someone sing in those negative octave ranges though, check out "thebassmanadam-I wanta go there", he has a video labeled with something like "my lowest note" where he sings in the -3rd octave. That's the lowest studio recorded note I know of.

Tim Storms was involved with the production of a Russian piece; and during that particular arrangement, Tim Storms goes down to a E1--NATURAL--NO VOCAL FRY (SEE YOU TUBE VIDEO)!!! The lowest note during Tim Storms' performance of "Lonesome Road" is B0, with very little vocal fry--natural chest voice!!! In addition, Tim Storms can easily sing C0--which is 6 notes lower than an A0 (lowest note on a normal piano)!!! For the Guiness World Record, Tim Storms sustained a frequency equivalent to G-8!!! How can this be physically possible???? When Tim Storms had his vocal chords checked by a specialist, Tim Storms was told that his vocal chords were twice the size of a normal adult human being (interview of Tim Storms posted at YOU TUBE)!!! Avi Kaplan's lowest note is G1, with vocal fry. Geoff Castellucci lowest note is E1, on occasion, as a sub-harmonic (VoicePlay's version of OOGIE BOOGIE SONG at VoicePlay OFFICIAL YOU TUBE CHANNEL)!!! Tim Foust (Bass for Home Free) can go down to F1, as a sub-harmonic (sung during competition during a contest on TV (SEE YOU TUBE VIDEO))!!!

You're absolutely wrong. Avi's G1 it's lowest CHEST note. In fry lowest recorded is D1, but I'm sure that he can go a lot lower. Geoff's lowest chest is clear F#1, possibly F1. Lowest subharmonic (at the time of writing your comment) is D1(little mermaid), but today his lowest sub is C#1, growl C#1, fry Eb0/C#0, but again, I'm sure that he can go lower. And Tim's lowest chest note is G1, possibly F#1, growl lowest recorded B0, and he don't show, that he can do subharmonics.

Tim Storms wins but it does not matter. Humans cannot hear his lowest note. I like the timbre of Avi Kaplan's voice best. His voice will continue to get lower as he ages he is only 31.
@jerryboy9652
@jerryboy9652 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say he "wins". G-7 is physically impossible to be produced as a continuous note with human vocal cords. It may be the frequency of G-7 but anyone who understands about physics/waves/fourier-transform understand that it doesn't make sense.

Abi does have one of the most beautiful bass voices. Tamber and vibrato are amazing as well as low notes.

@@jerryboy9652 Fully agree. What else doesn't make sense is the fact that Tim hasn't recorded a single note below piano range and that others have recorded lower audible notes than him. As a bass-baritone he's fine. His so called record is another matter.

Nope it's not sadly 😫, if you listen to other really low-lit bass singers like JD Summers you'll see that his C1's and B0's sound the same as tims

@QuantumBraced 2 жыл бұрын
It's not so much how low he reaches, it's the incredible quality of his voice. This isn't THAT low, I can consistently hit B1 which covers like 95% of this, but my B1 sucks compares to Tim's. He can reach much lower than this, but it starts to sound ridiculous, so for the purposes of actually enjoyable music this is about as low as you wanna go.
