This series is pure comfort for me. Regardless of how bad life might seem, the trotters have it worse and pull through. If I had to choose one show to watch this would be it. I'm never bored of it and I always find it funny. It's perfection, bottled up on your screen.

There very well off in real life. So sometimes it’s hard to feel bad. But there acting is so incredibly good. That they are so convincing that it is real. And they are struggling. And John Sullivans scripts are like something I have never seen before. Nor we will ever see. OFAH never fails to amaze me. I never get sick of it. It’s the best show ever. Hands down.

To think all the british comedians combined couldnt come up with a rudimentary sketch let alone a series. You can't learn this sort of stuff you're just born with it. What legend our John was. The only show that cheers me up in this miserable depressing world. Those truly were the good old days, how l miss them. This show takes me back. I wish john had written future scripts. I wonder if any genius could come up with a present version were dels boy and rodneys girl have grown up and take center stage you'd have to get someone that closely resembles the characters and have boycies son triggers denzels mickey pearce kids that are dead ringers of the old characters. I know david Jason has received many scripts for a series but non were ever good enough. Maybe we'll never find a comical genius.

Dave Andrew: Some of those you mention are great (apart from Blackadder and Bottom, personally not a fan,. And I've never seen New Statesman) but OFaH is just the pinnacle of all of them to me. Even beating The Vicar of Dibley which I loved.

The best comedy series were all made in the 60s, 70s, 80s, a little in the 90s, but none of those series I have in mind could be made today with the insanity of political correctness and the 1984 state we now live in. Ironic since most of those comedies were made by the BBC and now the BBC pioneers the garbage that is destroying Britain.

Interesting fact... "Tim" used to be a conference line. In those days they couldnt play a new recording for everyone who called. So youd call in and hear what was being played. If someone else called in at the same time you could talk to them. In the days when it was free (and then local rate for a fixed connection charge... not by the minute) two people could call at the same time long distance and chat for a very cheap price. Obviously the beeps got in the way but it was workable...

Well its 4 days so 96 hours, that's 5760 minutes. Even just in the UK it used to cost 10p per minute in the 80s so that's a minimum of £576. I found details that it used to be 25p per minute UK-US for a regular call in the late 80s, knock a little off that for early 80s and you're still looking at about £1,000, approximately 2 months wages.
