Cloudstreet resonates with me because of the sheer reality of the events. Of course, there were supernatural intrusions but when you compare it to most novels that restrict their scope to a mere few years in the life of often a single character, you start to comprehend the reality of the novel. There don't seem to be many brilliant events in the novel just the extraordinary lives of ordinary people, which is what makes it so brilliant (amongst a myriad of reasons).
