Producers from his era didn’t need tags because they all had unique sounds. Today everyone sounds like each other so a tag is necessary.
@supermatt-99 Жыл бұрын
tags are ridiculous nowadays, some producers even pay for people to make their tags or ask their friend to say something and make it a tag. Tags like Metro's make a lot of sense, he took a catchy line from a hit song of his and made it into a tag, I don't get people and their tags nowadays paying for them, go and do a collab project with an artist and get him to say something with your name and if it'll turn out to be a hit song, use that for a tag, otherwise don't bother paying for a random tag

He could charge 300-500k a beat because that song would end up in the top 10. Like literally Grammy winning beats. Producers now don’t have that type of talent to make a beat that would guarantee you a top 10 spot. That’s when you’re a super producer. Timbaland is a super producer.

Exactly. Nowadays the song writing and beat making is microwave. A lot of modern songs get boring fast.

I still think a super producer exists but…you can’t be stuck in 1 genre the Tim’s,Missy’s, the Neptunes and trackmasters were the super producers and they did hiphop and R&B right? Well now if you wanna achieve a 1/3 you (I mean in general) he or her has to be able to different genres to calm themselves a “super producer”
@jae6220 Жыл бұрын
@@3rdARKnight the era of super producers ended with Timbaland,the Neptunes and Kanye. Those dudes could take an unknown artist and make them super stars. There hasn’t been any one like that because the game changed from producers to beat makers. Dudes don’t take artist from scratch and mold them into stardom. That’s Rick rubin, teddy riley, Quincey jones, baby face, Prince etc those type of producers. Now people just fish around beats and leave the artist to create themselves.

I like what he is doing for the community. I agree that the community just feels like it's imploding with people selling beats for $1 and all the stealing and crazy stuff. Having a place to go that has structure is cool. Something better than beat stars that you get the feedback that you really need to be successful. I don't think AI can replace humans... it's a tool. I think in some instances that it may make sense for someone to use the music that it creates. I would just worry about being creative like Tim is always advocating. He has the right mindset about music and is why he is so successful. I am focusing on being better period and finding my style. I think it's important part of being a producer, being able to reinvent yourself all the time. It's the one thing that really shows your devotion to the craft.

I started as a Scratch and Battle style Dj in the early 2000’s. I saw the same thing in Dj’ing i see with The over saturation of producers and beat makers. Back then it took Time, money and effort to buy hardware and lean the ins and outs of the gear you bought with hard earned money. When Serato came out and laptops became the norm then controllers. Every ween in a halloween mask and a laptop became a edm/pop david guetta christ pose dj. The technology is a double edged sword. On one hand it gives the average nobody a chance to be creative as possible for almost no money. But on the flip side it devalues the music and lowers the quality of what os considered good music.

I have a whole other level of respect for Timbaland after watching this interview. He is so on point ! I had to do the same thing, accept change, it's inevitable and is going to happen. I now embrace these young dudes coming up in the game. We have to be there for each other , that is the way god wants it, real talk !!!! Big up to one of the illest producers in the game !!!

I felt it when he said you have to treat your loops / samples like it’s the only thing your trying to sell you always can add on or take away Experimentation will take you a long way

Ask Timbaland... Pony came out 3 years before Aaliyah's "If Your Girl Only Knew." When it blew up, it was like a song in the bag nobody ever heard.

this dude is what happens when the industry uses you and spits you back out, and guess what he cant leave. Basically dont sign your self away like he explains in this whole interview!
