Thanks a lot for the info, I have an 02 Nav, ZD30 DI, just had an engine rebuild, With the new build I added: 1. Gauges 2.glow plug momentary switch. 3. Swirl mod & Egr block. 4. Ecu remap. 5, 3” exhaust 6, stage 2 turbo(nav&patrol are different turbo set up). 7, 30th over injectors. 8, large front mount intercooler. 10. Quality catch can.11,snorkel. Egr runs pretty cool , it boosts pretty dam high and have to turn it down, 25psi, I don’t know the hp at this time but guessing 200s , the only issue I’m having is coolant leaking from the thermostat housing when using boost up and down the gears , highway driving not coolant loss, I’ve use an non original thermostat with an original seal, I’ll update the Egr and boost soon.

I have a 2006 ZD30 patrol, I have a high flow cat, Seletron tuning box 30+ hp and heaps more torque, I have a custom welded intercooler and large Godzilla scoop, i do work on patrols here, have worked on plenty of these engines inc heads and diesel pumps, a new rad and tensioner is a always a good investment on higher k examples..i have EGT, boost gauges and i fitted in my opinion the most important gauge on top hose of rad an alloy adapter for dash mounted digital water temp display gauge which will tell you if you ever have a coolant leak as temps will creep up if it starts to go a little low!! Full EGR delete and those small coolant hoses to EGR which are dangerous if they leak and they only add extra heat to the coolant system. Best mod I done of the lot is a full AC and condenser delete, the amazing thing is how fast the EGT's drop sinse i deleted all that crap, imo it's important the duration of sustained EGT temps and how fast you can drop those egts extremely rapidly once the AC is deleted, With AC it's very restrictive to the radiator. I tow 4cm³ of firewood every day as it's my business, weight is 7.5 builder bags plus it's a big 9x5 trailer with very high rails !! Up hills towing max foot to floor for a long time max temps I ever saw punishing it was 400 egt and 94 degree water temp. I am in Ireland so the AC is not important here for the two days of summer we get😂

Yeh not the greatest numbers!ha
@aus_overlander3 жыл бұрын
Where is your probe located? Before turbo or after? It looks like yours is after. You would see about a 200 degree drop across the turbo in this case. The point of all this is to get an idea of the exhaust valve temp but that's impossible to do directly so there needs to be some guess work. If you see 400 deg after then that's about 600 deg before the turbo and add about another 100-150 degrees to that to estimate the valve temp, so about 700-750 degrees. Which is fine but you can see how people run into trouble getting 550 post turbo as they quickly reach 850-900 at the valve which is pretty much at the limit.

Not trying to be negative or burst your bubble Tim but have you looked into the new Scangauge 3 ? I was going to get one of those pods and a couple of gauges, but when I crunched the figures pod around $100 plus and each gauge is around $120-$130 so you are already up to around the $350 mark. A scangauge3 has a possible 27 read outs, 3 pages with 9 on each page. So instead of 2 read outs I can have 9 in front of me at anytime with a glance. From EGT'S, Trans temp, water temp, boost, and so much more and not far off the price of 2 gauges and a pillar pod. Any way cheers and keep up the great work... love your content... Laurie.
@lozngr Жыл бұрын
Oh and I forgot to mention it brings up any fault codes and once sorted it will let you remove unwanted codes. And another thing you don't have to place a probe in exaust or anywhere else for boost, no running all the stuff through firewall and up to gauges as it is plug and play. Anyway be interested to hear your thoughts.
