Sometimes you don't always have the outside berth and are stuck trying to get out of the inside. Here we have a few things that made this job a bit more challenging than others.

Tim, I was a Refinery Superintendent at the Hess Port Reading Refinery for many years. I retired shortly after the refinery was shut down & terminal operations were sold to Buckeye. Although I was responsible for the entire complex during off hours, I very rarely had any issues at the terminal, 2nd reserve or with barge operations. So obvious Kudos to you & your safe tug boat skills, that we never crossed paths !

Loved watching this one. I was an armchair quarterback with parts. have, years ago, taken a barge out of one of those inside berths at that terminal, with a single screw, 1800 HP tug, built in 1959, with flanking rudders. Don't really recall how we got the barge out, but we did. If I was trying to do the job Tim did, I would have had a spring line out to work the stern off the dock. Tim, Just want to make sure, you were doing that at the start of the ebb tide, right? Nicely done. And, yes, you do sound cool and calm as mentioned by someone else.

watched this on a slow connection it took 65 mins to watch. I could not stop watching the progress. At times movements need all the power a tug can give. On others finesse. “ ill just stop and let her settle down” a brilliant action. The situating gets clearer, the options all open up, and the next move is in the right direction. If you attempt to power on its often the case that you have to power to correct . It was slow. It did use all the space. The eyes of the crew were there to give feedback and so spacial awareness. Judging distances is difficult from one place. A crew working together, AGAIN.. I Love these, the simple to the difficult, the normal to the unusual. Keep them coming they always are watchable, they always are informative and show the ability of people working together for one purpose....Amacf

Even something as simple as knowing you have 21 miles to go and you are making 7 knots, of course you know that you will be there in three hours, but many would rather look at the plotter and get the TTG because they are in the habit. Thank you for watching Tony. I have ordered a 360 camera with the hope to give you vides that you can manipulate to see what you want. It takes me a while to figure it out, but I'm sure it will be fun. #CUOTO

Hey Tim, its cool to see someone perform a manoeuvre like this... loving the sounds of the airstart of those 3512 Caterpillars in the opening sequence too 😍

Thank you for watching! Think of a sail that is 9 or 10 feet high and 350 feet long and how much just a little wind would have as a resulting force. Now know that air is over 830 time less dense than water and that sail is actually the barge in the water. That's why mother nature always wins. #CUOTO

👍🥂👌 Nice, I was lucky to have grown up on the James River around tugs and learned at an early age how to let nature work in your favor to get out of tight spots. And the use of a well-placed line. I remember riding on them at maybe around 4 years old, 58 years ago, lol
