Good overview of timber kit systems. I just wish to add point; to minimise risk of dry rot in structural timber kit constructions external walls should have vents to ventilate the cavity to prevent moisture build up. In Scotland and Northern Ireland, perpend vents generally at 1.2metre max horizontal centres; at high and low level bands PER storey. In England and Wales , perpend vents generally at 1.2 metre max horizontal centres; at high or low level bands PER storey. If not added they can be retrofitted with products like drillvent.

I’ve just been binge watching your videos - esp to understand roof stuff - as it looks as though I’ve got to take over managing a dormer extension we’re having at home - where the builders were so shocking we’ve had a falling out…lol, I do a lot of internal refurb work, so rooves are not my thing - but like so much in building if you wrap your head round the high level concepts, the detail - and work methodically it’ll go fine. The builders we had the falling out with were “rush rush rush” merchants who never thought anything through so the problems just kept piling up. Thank god they didn’t get too far . I now have to decide if we should just start again with the ridge / rafters etc given the joints are so shoddy … lol
