I'm building a 40x60 building and was wondering if I can build a timber framed truss that large. I'm also looking for a 2' overhang as well so the overall width will be 44'?

I see you guys use a spline in several of your trusses. Where can I get more info about how to size a spline and what wood types should be used?

Some beautiful timber framing . Unfortunetly , we do not have spruce or Doug Fir in Louisiana . Those woods particularly make truly strong beautiful timerframe structures . However , we do have Red and White Oak , which is what we use along with Locust , Hornbeam, Tupelo , Persimmon , and we use osage for our Pins . It takes a bit more work to timberframe with these hardwoods , but once its done it makes a Tremendously strong frame . Then we clad it in Red Cypress and Bull Pine . The old structures we have still standing are 250-350 years old . They Last a Very longtime .

Ive been interested in timber frames for awhile now. Im wanting to build a hybrid timber frame. Do you know any companies that just sale timber frame plan details that include all the joinery cut out details. Any advice or help would be much appreciated

Beautiful work! What would be the widest span one could make with this type of rafter? I’m needing a 30’ span.
@dp55ful3 жыл бұрын
30' would be a stretch. With the upsizing the timber it would be possible.

Darcy Pickles thanks for the reply. What would be the longest normal span realistically I could do? Was wanting to have a 2 bay bus barn. We’re ready to build but haven’t started yet.

On the curved pieces, are they cut, bent, or manufactured curved. I’m bewildered, please do a video on how to size fit and or cut/bend.
@mr.grotto94989 ай бұрын
They're cut. Likely by hand or on something like an industrial band saw and then finished.
