Video starts by showing a post base that is only partially seated on concrete. Concrete is contoured so only half of post base makes contact before tapco??? screws go in. Not even a sleeved anchor bolt. So weird…

In hind sight, we should have moved the post brackets in a few inches.

So he told me he was originally going to do a balcony there. But Decided to do just the roof, But left the door so someone could do something with it in the future if they chose to.

@@Plankmills Can you relay the message that's that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. It was like 8 more minutes of work and $500 to make this a functional deck

VERY SLOPPY Construction. No real timber joinery. These amateurs toenailed, TOENAILED the rafters into the building wall ledger instead of supporting the rafters properly (They should have rested the rafters ON TOP of a ledger board wide-enough to withstand wood shrinkage and humidity expansion). Sure, it looks good at the end of this video, but will need to be replaced within a few years. The Tapcon concrete screws will eventually allow water into the concrete pad resulting in expensive future repairs from freeze / thaw cracking. And did anyone notice how poorly they drilled those holes out of plumb? These guys need to work as apprentices with REAL craftsmen to learn how to build things that will last.

FYI, He actually used long heavy duty construction screws to fasten the rafters.

I think he was referring to where the rafters were toenailed to the house...Are you finished with saw milling? I loved the milling videos :)@@Plankmills

@@timothyallbritton1961 I know, that’s what I was referring to as well. He didn’t “Toenail them, He toe-screwed them in with long lag screws.

@@timothyallbritton1961 yes, I sold the sawmill! 😒 probably shouldn’t have, but I did. I figure I’ll get another one eventually. Maybe in a year or so, if not sooner.
