Mike...I don't often comment on any U-Tube videos. I just enjoy the content and learning new skills and technics. This one is over the top. Those young men doing the construction of that pavilion helped restore my faith in young American workers. I'm in the early stages of planning a timber framed structure and this video put a little my fire in my plan to "Git Er Done". All this from a young at heart guy raised in good old Westmoreland County PA . Keep up the good work on your Channel. SGM Dave from TN.

Well trained and Precision oriented crew. We could feel the pride in his voice and mannerisms! Good People make a community a great place to live. I grew up in a town of 600 people surrounded by dairy farms. Only one professional person in the town and that was the Dr. Most worked at the veneer plant making plywood. As a young boy it was fascinating to watch them roll the big logs into the steam pit, then to send the logs to the machines to strip off thin sheets of wood to glue together for plywood. They had a steam whistle that they blew at 7am Monday-Friday to let workers know they had 30 minutes to get to work. Then at 7:30 they blew it again and at noon for lunch and 12:30 to go back to work. It could be heard all over our small town.

Excellent video Mike at Tri=State Gazebo . This is a well designed and built Gazebo that will be around a lifetime. Very well built and turned out beautifully. Hope you know somebody that might be able to hook you up with some wood so you could mill the wood for one. Once you get your hands on one of those nibblers for cutting tin you'll keep it in a special place and always cleaned and ready to use , they are handy and you can make decorative tin signs and other artwork with them too. Stay safe and keep up the great work and videos. Fred.

When I built my porch, I bought my wood straight from a big box store but I did something most people never think about and some thought I was crazy for doing. I put the wood in my garage, stickered them, and let them dry for months before constructing. This helped weed out the bad warped wood, made it much lighter to work with, and helped cut back bad warping after construction when the sun really hits the wood. Other than staining it every other year or so, the deck literally looks as good as new and was built back around 2014. Do it right the first time and you wont' have to do it again later.

Mike call me a purist but I’m glad you called this construction method “post beam”. Pure timber frame is based on mortise/tenon held together with oak pegs. Much stronger. If you want to learn more watch some of the Shelter Institute videos. They teach timber framing, designs, load factor, etc. also true timber framing uses green wood. The mortise/tenon/peg construction holds it together and everything drys. Just different but notice all the timber frame barns that have been around for 100s of years.
@RamblinRoadies Жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct. The most accurate description would be "framing with timbers". It still requires skill, but on a whole different level. Not to take anything away from these skilled young men, they do beautiful work. It's nice to see young people who aren't afraid of hard work.
