I've had 5 pairs of these since 2013. Only workboot I've ever used. They have become my everyday footwear unless I need to make a quick trip to the store. For me, they simply are the most comfortable footwear I've ever had. The inserts suck and wear out in a few months but that's a cheap upgrade for a reasonably long life boot I abuse fairly regularly.

One of the most comfortable work boots I have ever owned! I beat the living soles out of these things. Wore them down to the ground. They lasted me 2 years and throughout the entire time they were comfortable. I would highly recommend this boot.

I just bought these last weekend. I work in a Grocery Store and do Night Stocking. It's concrete up to 10 hours a day. It's bending down and on the knees. My feet after being on Concrete are not fatigued. I did have a poke on the laces on the bottom where the leather was at a 90 degree cut that hurt. It's been resolved. Like with any shoe it does take a break in period. I got these steel toed shoes due to my foot being run over with a pallet jack trolley. My toes are now forever protected, even with the electric extendable jacks that are walk behind. I have a lady that fell and her foot is permanently damaged by that jack after it ran her foot over. "Sad! SO SAD" These did cost about $134, but the way I see it, the reviews are excellent as well as you can't put a price on foot safety. Now, go out and get yourself these really great boots. You won't regret it, you'll be thankful

Ive had these for a month now, I work in a warehouse. it took about 4 days to break them in, at first i got pain in my heels until i broke them in & I dont get back pain anymore like i did when i was working in regular shoes. Great buy

The absolute BEST work boots at one time! I had my first pair for well over 1/2 a decade and refused to put them to sleep until someone asked me to put them in a Timberland Helix Introduction Giveaway Contest where they were promoting their new line and I ended up winning that new pair of Timberlands. The Pit Bosses IMHO had the ability to become one of those landmark boots for Timb if they had just kept up with the quality control. They are undeniably them most comfortable boots out the box that I've ever used and for the price, they can't be beat. Even still, if I were still buying boots (and my company wasn't paying for my new Red Wings), I'd go for the Pit Bosses. They are still the BEST Timberland boots for work. I use Dr. Scholls Work Insoles (as I do with all my boots anyway).

I love the timberland pitboss. Best purchase I've ever made. I did excavating for a few years and they were fabulous. Just tried my first timberlands and they are these exact boots here. Wow they feel so good!!! Unbelievable how much more sturdy they feel than my sketcher workshire steel toe boots that would still be In great shape but both boots stitching let go up front behind the toes where snow can just pack in my boot. These timberlands have 4/5 rows of heavy stitching compared to the 2 rows on my sketchers. But best of all the width is perfect!! I’m a 10/10.5 wide as I can get and was concerned after reading reviews but there plenty wide. I chose 10.5 wide. So glad I decided to give these a try. If they hold up I’ll never buy anything else.

Bought a pair of the Pit Boss (33046) a few years back, oiled the leather and stored them in my closet. I pulled them out yesterday and put in a good custom insole before I took my first step. I noticed the outer sole was crumbling, leaving dried black rubber everywhere. I called Timberland, but because they were over a year old - no warranty. I really thought they would cover / repair the sole disintegrating.

these are good. after wearing them for about 5 months, the inly problem i ever had with them is the collar and tongue tends to rub pretty hard in my shin/outer leg. thick socks help, but that collar is so tough it ends up hurting at the end of the day. some of the best steel toes for the price in terms of comfortability once they get broken in and the leather softens up a bit. footbed good and supportive, and the front of my foot never had any problems. i have wide feet and bought wide.

What these boots lack is a nice cushioned MIDSOLE. Which makes a boot so much more comfy. This boot is just a hard rubber outsole and crappy insole. I'll spend the extra $50 for a pair of Carolina or Wolverine which stay comfortable for a year at least without buying new insoles

I've owned 2 pairs, both pairs lasted me about 1.5 years. I oil my boots and take care of them but I am a land surveyor so I'm also hard on them. I can say they are easily the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. But my first pair the welt separated and my second pair developed a hole in the toe as well as major cracking at the toe bend. Just bought a pair of American made Carolinas, hoping they will last at least 2 years.

These boots are relatively comfortable for normal everyday wear, but ive recently been using them for work and theyve given me pretty gnarly blisters. There is an exposed seam right down the middle of the heel which has rubbed mine raw and thats even with thick boot socks on. The footbed near the front of the boot curls up slightly right by the big toes in both boots which has also given me pretty large blisters. I covered the seam with moleskin and hope putting new inserts in will fix the other issues but it hasn't proven to be that comfortable of a work boot. Also I normally wear an 11 but have pretty narrow feet so these felt better in a 10.5 medium width.

I went through two pairs in a year. I split the soles in half at the ball of the foot on both. The leather split at the ides of where the toe and laces meet. I don’t abuse my boots at all. Im a warehouse worker and forklift operator. If it was one pair I’d chalk it up to a fluke, but it was two in a year.

I’ve had mine for 8 years now. They got a few scratches in the leather (caught my foot on a freshly cut ladder rack installing telecom cables) but it adds to the character. The only issue I have with mine actually is the padding on the back all the black has crumbled off and the rubber soles have split from couching with my toes bent. Also I’ve never oiled them before

Honest review, he's exactly right.... Take your time breaking them in, use a decent arch support and buy a wide for the steel toe models. I've had mine for at least five years, and really liked them. I don't wear them daily, but frequently work long days on concrete floors. They are very comfortable with an upgraded insole. However, I went to put them on this morning and noticed that both soles had cracked and can essentially be peeled off the boot. I guess I'll have to get them re-soled, but that will probably cost as much as a new pair, and they really won't be the same. Pretty disappointing ...

Great boot, but there's no way you will get more than a year out of em, unless you don't use them for work. They are the most comfortable wide boot on the market. Steal tip is fantastic, I have dropped blocks, wood, and many other things on them. They will definitely save your toes. Make sure you spray them with wd-40 every other month. It will definitely keep your feet dry. I've been using these boots for years. Just plan on buying a new pair every 9 months to a year.

Not yet at least. I own three pairs of Merrell Moab Ventilators in walnut though. That's probably Keen's biggest and closest competitor. They make great summer fishing shoes especially while out in the boat because they breath so well and are very comfortable. I use them instead of wearing sneakers if I am doing a lot of outdoor walking too like at the 4H Fair, a amusement park or while camping.

I have to wear orthodics, take the crappy piece of foam rubber and throw it away, REI greens or orthodics and they are great. I have narrow feet and you can't find real C's or B's, the Medium is a "D" and that isn't narrow. The medium isn't narrow enough until you fill the space with orthodics, if a boot is too wide when the sides start to break in it will crimp in and either make blisters or pinch

These have polyurethane midsoles. They typically disintegrate after 4 to 8 years regardless of whether they were worn or not. The advantage of polyurethane over an EVA midsole is that they do not lose cushioning very much at all during their lifetime. EVA will be lighter and spongier in the beginning but will lose almost all cushioning after about 3 to 6 months of use, but left on a shelf EVA lasts decades. These are better for using hard and frequently until they die, not for occasional use.

I buy 2 pairs of Timberline pro pit bosses at a time and get years out of them,,,, they fucking hurt you feet,,, but stop bitching and keep going…. Longest lasting boots I have and I use a cheap can of Johnson’s paste wax to clean and soften them…… Great job on the Review,,, Dead On……..🙃

Ok, I bought these boots and I realize I have to break these in but DAMN the pain it is giving me on the outside of my ankles is killing me. Is it normal for them to be this uncomfortable? Any advice on how to improve this problem I have?

Dicks doesn't stand behind the comfort of any footwear product. But they can't say no to a defect is you have the receipt.

Stiff poly brush and mink oil would work the best. If your working in them.
