I use a pocket-sized point and shoot camera with a 30X (24-720 mm) Zeiss optical zoom lens. For this show, I was in the back row of the balcony. The challenge in shooting from that far away is that even the slightest movement of your hands can blur the video. If you're not careful, panning to follow the performer can do the same. A tripod would obviously help, but the ushers would not take kindly to that. :)

I think it helps her be more confident. Knowing people are looking at the hat rather than at you. I've seen other performances where she's stopped half way through and she just needs a distraction to finish it properly

Hi Daniel, I've actually found that the two microphones on this camera record very high-fidelity audio. To a fault, really...if someone sniffles 5 seats away, the camera faithfully captures it. Here are the specs if you're curious: XAVC S:LPCM 2ch, AVCHD: Dolby Digital (AC-3) 2ch (Dolby Digital Stereo Creator I *was* unhappy with my camera work at this concert though. I had to freehand it from the back row, making it hard to steady the frame, especially when zoomed in. At other shows at this venue, I sat in the front row and used the balcony wall as a makeshift tripod to stabilize the camera. Anyway, I think the original commenter just didn't like Imogen Heap's performance. I totally disagree. I thought this show was great.
