I own a messenger command as well, for about 4 years now, and I haven't had a better bag than this one. Most bags I've had never served longer than a year before requiring replacement. It matches up to my military-grade backpack but with a professional look. I honestly wouldn't want to have any other mechanism to open the bag, the G-hook is a superior system. Because I travel a bit and I needed to walk through the hunting grounds of pickpockets frequently. Nobody will be able to open this bag without you noticing it. I had experiences in metros, busses, even just waiting in line. Also, the zippers are concealed, in comparison to most other bags. Opening/closing becomes a habit in no time. I also, store spare clothes in the TSA compartment for emergencies, but I recommend selecting clothes based on thin and light. To me, those clothes are like a condom. Better have it with and not need it, then need it and not have it.

I have two of these bags, and this is a fantastic and accurate review of my older Timbuk2 Command Messenger Bag, which I love for all the reasons outlined in the video. I just received a new one from REI (same size, but blue and gray color), and it has fewer features and a significantly lower build quality. No padding in the top handle (just bare webbing), at least one fewer pocket, cheaper exterior and interior fabric (no more vinyl lining under the top flap), and no strap to cover the velcro.

I love mine, exactly like this one! It might be a bit bulky for a quick everyday grab and go bag though… and the fact that it can’t stand up on it’s own is a major annoyance… the bottom isn’t flat enough because of the design and it just falls on it’s front when you put it down… nothing’s perfect, eh?

Right? If it could stand on its own, it would probably be my every day bag - had to go with the Vanquest gopher 15 instead

G hooks are harder to unclip than buckles, but easer to clip.

And completely silent, that is the biggest benefit

I want a messenger that’s actually waterproof I had a messenger that claimed to be waterproof till one day I was caught in a downpour walking home with gusty winds I had a rain jacket on and umbrella but was soaked from the waist down and once I got home I opened my bag to get something out and everything inside was soaked luckily I didn’t have any expensive electronics inside I emptied the bag and hung it up to air dry for 3 days because I didn’t know what putting in dryer would do so whenever rain was in forecast I would not use that messenger I used my north face back pack instead

Perhaps it is a silly pet peeve, but I hate inaccurate use of language. If there are only TWO sizes, they can call it whatever they want, but the larger size is NOT "medium"... by definition. That's not your fault, of course, but I feel we should push back against these abominations wherever we find them. LOL

Do you know if there are any differences between the small and medium size? (Besides the size difference)

Ian Campbell hey Ian, this is the medium

Paul'sProductReviews thanks, about how many books do you think this can hold? I usually carry a 1.5 inch thick Bible, a 5 star single subject spiral and maybe 2 other 1-2 inch books, do you think this bag would be sufficient?
@paulsproductreviews85494 жыл бұрын
Ian Campbell hard to really say without trying it, but I think it should be able to. I kept five 50 page screenplays in a padded sleeve in the main compartment with plenty of extra room.

Paul'sProductReviews sounds big enough, thanks for the info, do you have a preference on what year for these bags or not really?
@paulsproductreviews85494 жыл бұрын
Ian Campbell I think this model ending, which would explain the discounts. I would go with the most recent version.

I've heard that it feels way heavier than a regular Timbuk2 messenger bag, true?
@PaulLeach1234 жыл бұрын
This is my first timbuk2, so I’m not sure, but the TSA opening thing creates the need for more material.
@r3belz5814 жыл бұрын
It is, but it has more padding, more organization, and is a bit sturdier.
