I am building a pond can I drill straight into the sleeper its a soft wood one. do I need to pre drill. I have a normal cordless drill will this do the job or do I need a impact drill ?

I have you 6.7 x 150 Stainless Steel screws to join some Oak Sleepers to make raised garden beds - can you advice what size drill bit I should use to pre drill holes & also to what depth? M Thx

7mm to depth of unthreaded part of shank. 5 or 6mm to full length of shank minus 10-15mm.
