I have this album cover etched above my name on my black marble headstone. To me, it shows you coming into life, represented by the pyramid, as a narrow; clean; pure beam of colorless light. You enter life heading upward. You pass through life, picking up life experiences along the way. You then leave life, heading downward. The rainbow shows all the different experiences, represented by the different color's. Also, the brighter the color's, the brighter the life you had. I'm 62 and dying of Cancer, so my color's are already set. Loved to see two ladies enjoying what brought me so much happiness all my life. "Dark Side of The Moon" was the first album I ever bought, and I still have it. I was 14 in 1973! God, just to do it again! But, we all know it ends...

Your friend Bev totally got it and was visibly enthralled - I seriously suggest "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" which is sooo beautiful she is going to be utterly mesmerized & happy, in a musical hypnotic state of pure bliss ! [ I'm deadly serious ! ] - The song is dedicated to their close friend & founder of Pink Floyd - Syd Barrett without whom there would be no Pink Floyd. He took too much LSD and became lost in his own mind for years in a mental institution. He was a beautiful young man. During recording that song, he turned up after many years, literally just stood in the doorway, a sad shadow of himself barely recognizable and a total shock to the group. The lyrics depict this. The whole album is basically dedicated to Sid, & 'Shine On' ....is the opening track. Sid has since sadly passed away. [ Listen to the song "See Emily Play" - It was a hit single with Sid on vocals ]

It's a beautiful look into a young man's life, a story told by a magnificent band. They have meaning for all that would listen.

Well Roger Waters wrote the lyrics… But then I guess he was also dealing with Roger. Really though, the interpersonal issues weren’t showing yet at this point.

In '73, they were in their 20's (I was too). Pink Floyd in concert was like no other and I am fortunate to have seen them 3x. In concert, their light show alone was worth the price of admission. You can experience that with videos from their album, "Pulse". Your reaction to this was priceless. Thank you.

One of the best selling albums of all "time", for good reason. DSotM stayed on the charts for years longer than any other album. 68 now, I was 20 when it came out. Album rock on the radio at that "time" meant that it often got played start to finish, as it was meant to be experienced. Today, people's attention spans are just too short. Very few people give anything enough "time".

Quoting Wikipedia (for those who are reading this in the future) "Upon a change in chart methodology in 2009 allowing catalogue titles to be included in the Billboard 200, The Dark Side of the Moon returned to the chart at number 189 on 12 December of that year for its 742nd charting week. It has continued to sporadically appear on the Billboard 200 since then, with the total at 958 weeks on the chart as of July 2021"....."One in every fourteen people in the US under the age of 50 is estimated to own, or to have owned, a copy."

When I heard these lyrics at 20 years of age, when the album came out. . . I liked them. Now, at 73 the lyrics take on a whole new meaning !!

To me it seems weird to read lyrics while listening to music, especially if hearing a song for the first time. It detracts from the spontaneity of the listening experience. Maybe I'm the weird one, because most reactions seem to do it. But I much rather just hear the lyrics as they are sung. With good music, you are meant to be lost in the moment as you experience it, it seems to me. So it's hard for me to understand why anybody would want to listen to music that way, while reading ahead in the lyrics.

I was around 22 yrs old when this came out. This song brings out many emotions...I am 70 yrs young now, and love Pink Floyd as much now as I did then!
