Time capsule buried at ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope | ELT Updates

A time capsule was buried in a ceremony at the construction site of ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), on Cerro Armazones in the Chilean Atacama Desert.
The capsule was sealed at the first stone ceremony in 2017, when construction on the soon-to-be “world’s biggest eye on the sky” began. It serves as a symbolic message to future generations.

Is it Brazil still in the ELT program? Far as last time I know Brazil hasn’t paid his part.

Brazil considered joining ESO as a member state; the process was initiated but it ended up not materialising all the way through. Brazil is thus not part of the ELT programme. The time capsule featured in this video was sealed in 2017 and it still shows the Brazilian flag.
