Hi David, I also have still an original from a 61 car which is installed. Ok might not cross the alps. But what is the worst that can happen? You still can drive but have to watch the temp or stop the car and get pulled home.

Wonderful find. Jay Leno just bought a roadster which might just edge this one out for condition and originality. It's a 63 and completely as delivered. It has 17,000 miles. Amazing finds both of course.

Hi John, many thanks for watching. There is actually not much difference to the first 20 FHC which were OBL cars. The 1/4 light hinges had changed on this car already. All the rest is pretty much the same but from end if 61 lot more changes did occur. Keep watching, I will explain lot more details and changes. Make sure you subscribe to my channel. Many thanks 😊

Richard Michael, luckily there are not that many "original" early cars out there. Do not want you to become addicted :-). We all know that many restored cars are having repro stuff mounted. We want to identify and appreciate the good old craftsmanship and also the value of maintaining it. How can an unexperienced E Type enthusiast recognize genuine parts if not by pointing them out. Sure, some restorers do not want their clients to be aware of all the cheap repro stuff. However, I got your point, and will use alternative words. Please help me improving. Many thanks.

Hi Tony, this car has been imported from the US some years ago, and to get it insured at all, it has to pass the German road requirements TÜV. Including Hazard warning lights, H4 headlamps, not the old originals head lamps, km/h speedo, correct tyre for up to 240 km/h (you do not need that in US) :-) and a few other changes required for road use if you want to have it insured. No idea if you would want to drive this car without insurance downtown?! The good thing is, ALL cars in Germany on the road, including all classic cars, need to undergo a full technical inspection of safety and functionality EVERY 2 years. Horn, light, wiper, brakes exhaust, everything has to work accordingly. I know in other parts of the world, you can drive a classic car even without such approvals. But what if your brake fails und you knock someone over? Is that covered by your insurance?

I would find it hard to believe the drivers seat needs replacing after such short distance, what happened to it? It couldn't have worn out.
@JaguarEType
@JaguarEType 2 жыл бұрын
Good point Toni, I think it was replaced not because it was worn but most likely due to a cut from an something being in yout trowsers rear pocket. Or even the rivet a pair of jeans used to have. You can see a similar issue at my passenger seat in one of my other videos of my 885289, I pointed it out as I covered the cut with some tape rather than replacing. How often do we forget to have our smartphone in the rear pocket and jump into these tight buckets seats. No good at all. Some people misplace a screwdriver in the rear pocket when they are centering the steering wheel or removing the underdash. Sure some of us were lucky enough not damaging the seats.

What surprises me is that nobody jumped into the gap to print the kilometers on a speedometer that is graded in MPH, I mean with all the fantastic computer software we have these days this should not be too hard should n't it ?
@JaguarEType
@JaguarEType Жыл бұрын
It can be done at Speedograph in UK. But when you want to have the original miles counted. One thing is the the speed indication, another thing is the miles done. On my unrestored cars I keep the original speedo and use stickers as well.

@@JaguarEType Thanks, it is owned by a man who also has 2 series 1 OTS cars he is restoring and this one has become obsolete, he also has a Getrag 5-speed gearbox for this car for sale, thanks for the tips had MGB's Mini's (the real) and TR6 so the British shake rattle 'n roll is familiar to me. Oops also had a badly corroded XJ6 series 2 3.4 Manuel that had belonged to the Boss of van Melle from the Mentos sweets.
