That new fluiddump you're placing in the dried riverbed, maybe move it over so you can have a path across the levees to reach the other side of that watering hole you're building? Right now the dump is going to block the path, so you can't even reach half of the soon-to-be green area Keep up the good work!

I'd love to see the housing in the cutout of the mountain back behind the new industrial area. Would be cool from the beaver's perspective to wake up and see the valley below. Plus side is there is metal nearby to harvest once you got up there.

I kept waiting all episode to see when your fluid dump at the new tree farm is compelted before teh levees, lockingteh construction beavers out. ;) Housing: I'd put it on the level below the main settlements so you can put rooftop terraces on top of the houses that directly connect to the main settlement. But warehouses also allow that, so... 29:55 I would have put a levee into the river, then moved the automated pump touching the wheel one square left. That way, you don't need the corner transmission and the path can just continue straight on instead of having to curve. That's personal preference, though. 31:30 Being able to (un)pause fluid dumps depending on downstream the way sluices do would be great! 42:xx - the industrial sector also can use easy water power until you block off the badwater flow behind your settlement. Especially after the one currently unreachable blockage is removed. 47:40 Can't be the slowest, isn't a German construction project. 51:10 I would add a path directly from the second automated pump to that new medium tank. ...Aaaand 53:10 you blocked it with a new medium tank despite wasting two squares that way. Moving it a row closer to the science huts and flipping the entry would have helped logistics a LOT.

15:40 there is a spot almost in the middle of the screen that can get you across that badwater in 4 platforms, which with a huge ladder can get you to the most efficient way i've found to cut off those badwater supplies. A two piece levee almost straight up from that point to get to that island, and a three piece levee to block off the far side of the island. It also has the bonus of getting you a good relatively close source of badwater. If you wanted to keep the badwater behind your settlement, you would just need to use two platforms instead of the first two levee pieces for the easiest access. all of this requires a ton of wood/planks for the ladder but once you finish the new forestry area you should be good on wood!

I just watched the previous video. From the main river, as it curves and drops down one more block as it empties into that final lake... you can draw a diagonal like from the curve of the river to the tip of the little island with scrap metal and then from that island to the edge of the map. Thus creating a diagonal river that exits the map without filling the lake, The lake is now 100% plantable terrain with the help of a few levees and water dump setups. Now besides that area you gathered the emergency oaks from in the previous episode, our have full control over nearly 1/4 of the map with a majority of said area viable for planting and building with no possibility of accidental contamination, especially after you block off the 2nd badwater source behind the settlement that feeds the small river and pollutes the main river from the "far right side in relation to the main waterfall".

It has to be mixed, you can't get it from pure badwater (aka from just a badwater source, or during a badtide) but yeah, partial contamination won't fully stop goodwater production. It WILL slow it proportionally to contamination level, so if it's 25% badwater (and thus 75% goodwater), your pumps will work at 75% their normal speed. You'll also have to keep in mind that, when pumping from a pool of standing mixed water, you'll be removing goodwater from the mix and leaving all the badwater, thus increasing the contamination percentage over time. Evaporation doesn't change that percentage, it removes both kinds proportionally, but pumping will change the balance and can make a pool that had been irrigating normally start to contaminate the ground around it.

Maybe a second water dump on the opposite side of the horseshoe? That would help fill the area a bit faster and maybe save the canola if it dries out again.

One of things i did on this map was, once i cut off that badwater sources behind your district center, dynamite across from the water fall to the pools and river behind your district center (the one thats had badwater in it this whole time and was overflowing at the start). Once you have dynamite of course :P it does redirect the flow of water around behind your base so you will want to block it off at the end so it doesn't run off the map on you. Build a bridge across to that Ruin island in the bay there! Once the Ruins are removed its the perfect place to put the emberpelt's wonder! Housing: I think you should put them in on the lower level by the natural stairs by the tooth Grindstone. Just starting in that corner there!

Now that you have an engine and automated pumps, you need to make sure you have haulers at all times. I'd HIGHLY recommend building a second hauling post, reducing the number of workers in it to just 2 or 3, and raising the priority on those jobs to high, if not max. A minimum of 2 or 3 should be enough to keep the things that require haulers from being neglected, with the second post (10 jobs at low priority) being your beaver overflow.

4:00 I dunno if you referred to me or not, but I was talking about the round divot nearby the water wheel/science buildings that you mentioned filling previously. I just said a couple blocks in there for a 3x3 would work, and be right next to main base ;) BEARD Beaver Exercise And Rotational Device ;) Why not build housing on the other side.. You have to get up that cliff anyway, so you could build houses on both sides, stacking them up, and using the ladders up the side for access ;) Now that you're automating water collection... a bit more wood production, and you can go block off the rest of the bad water corrupting your supply.. Then can make a nice tall dam right where it waterfalls by base.. and BAM! Water is fixed! :D Man I love the JC beavers.. don't forget to get a tail stamper!!! #BeardsMatter

the big lake where all the water runs off is honestly prime for housing. whenever i large water areas i always try to put my housing there. you can run power under the platforms or just remove a few and add a water wheel on to it. low leveled ground for me is always saved for trees and food. you could demo the cliffs to make vertical factories.

Note: If you don't turn off the fluid dump for the horseshoe pond then at least turn off "prioritized by haulers" on it, before starting into this badtide. Long term goal: As you already made it to the upper plateau to cut off the bad water, you could build from the top down a ladder tower to get to the breakable tiles at the water mixing point before the waterfall. Glad to see the future log farming area about to get irrigated and I like the location of the new industrial area, you could drop in water wheels at the river and shafts to the area supplement power easily from there.
@pbrooks42

Housing, especially the biggest housing, next to the natural stairs that head down to your new fluid dump/tree farm is a great spot. still close to the main area and won't need additional stairs to enter them. Two of the largest will hold enough population to replace all your current housing plus a few extra beavers (36 total instead of 30). slap on a few rooftop terraces and nearby campfires and you'll get all your fire needs as well!

During the next drought, you could extend the path behind the new production area, and they could take the natrual stairs downa and remove those two blockages. Not critical, but something to check off the list. I'd like to eventually see some platforms over the little pond and areas like that, with housing on top. The idea of housing, storage, etc, built on over water appeals to me. You could even put some platforms and housing in the river itself. Then all land is free. I know it needs to be centralized right now, I'm just saying it could be cool. Like Metal Island. You could do platforms, with water wheels, and have an off-shore production island, with it's own power.

You have the materials to go up and close off the other badwater inflow, should greatly increase the pumps efficiency. Considering most of the map is on the other side of the river, maybe build a highrise up the cliff so they can grab food below, every worker for the beginning area can go on and your expansion workers go back up and do their job. You do not have that much more to build down there, most of it can become farms as soon as you block the badwater on that side. (Following is a small vision for a goal to work towards, all probably 10+ episodes away) With a few aqueducts later in the series you can even cut down considerably on beaver labor to keep everything irrigated. Parts of the badwater canal could become small irrigation ponds, same with the big open flood plain down below. Section the river off so it flows off directly and you gain a ton of land for more trees around the ruins. Relocate your main industry upstairs as you can supplement your power needs with the badwater sources there. Then you can focus on shaping the rest of the map. (It would probably wise to include some more diversion and reservoir building in this long- term process I suppose.) Well, consider this just food for thought, I´m interested to see how you shape it in the end.

You know your little horseshoe waterbed? You've got a fluid dump on one side, but you really need one on the other side too, since you're pouring water in almost as far from the canola as you can get. Sticking one there would reduce how much water you needed to use to irrigate in the first place, and probably save your crops.

So, from my own run, a single fluid dump can only _barely_ keep up with evaporation in the horseshoe, and if it's not prioritized by haulers, it loses height slowly over time. I'd recommend a second one for refilling it. I'd also recommend using stream gauges to automate the fluid dumps, especially for the 3x3 pools this map DESPERATELY needs for a run to go past midgame. I make them turn on when height drops below 0.4, and turn off once it goes above 0.7. In a 3x3 pool, that means it's on for 4 hours or so, and then off for 3 days. Since I have several of these staggered somewhat, I effectively have one beaver who just cycles between all the 3x3 pools' dumps and don't need to worry about the automation screwing with any other jobs - though it wouldn't take anything from necessary jobs, since I have two additional hauling posts for spare beavers bc my population fluctuates wildly at times (due to mass breeding causing population spikes that all die and get replaced at the same time... I intend to fix that once I get enough bots to hold my colony steady as I cull most of the beavers and then properly manage their reproduction rate as they repopulate)

Fluid dumps will keep water topped off without overflowing the level of the pump. You should keep that fluid dump on always so you don't have to refill the crop irrigation in the middle of a drought

Seeing how last episode you blocked of 2 badwater sources, reducing the amount of power your waterwheels can generate, you maybe could throw a few levees in the river to narrow the river around the waterwheel area, increasing power output from those waterwheels again. Before a 5 wide gap was needed for the riverbanks not to flood. Maybe that gap is now gone down to a 4 wide gap before the river overflows again. 4 wide is exactly the gap between the riverbank and that tetris piece shaped rubble island (at it's narrowest point), the gap to the other riverbank is 3 wide. So to increase waterwheel power at the very least you are safe to put in 2 levees on that side, maybe even all 3 to make all the riverwater flow south of "tetris rubble island". Considering a levee is about half the logs of a water wheel, potentially worth it?

Consider rebinding your "pause building" key to something easier to reach than [P]. I have mine set to [R] (with "rotate building" and "detonate dynamite", because there's no real conflict). That little creek along the bottom of the cliff isn't going to irrigate a whole lot, even if you fill it with clean water. You should just build where its expedient and leave wrangling the terrain for later.

→ 9:16 So this staircase (just made highest priority) needs 4 planks. You have currently 2 in stock. 9:30 ... and decide to pause the lumbermill? (Noticed 16:40) → It looks like half of your corn is never harvested, as it's too far away, and you always got nearer crops to harvest. → 15:53 "Our water storage right now is full" - that sounds like the right time to dump some into your horseshoe area? (Finally turned on 31:50 when it was empty.) → 33:42 "Empty [the plank pile]!" - Given that you just placed a bunch of pumps and platforms here, which need planks, I'd keep the small pile for now to support the builders. Same with the log piles. You can still remove them later when you need the space. → I'll let others give input on the location of the housing, but you if you go for the larger housing units, you should close (pause) a few of the smaller units at the moment you open a large one, then slowly reopen them after your population filled the space up, and repeat this for the next one. (I.e. you should always have several small houses left, don't delete them all at once). This way you can grow your population more gradually, and avoid the big birth- and death waves messing up the economy.

Sorry if that annoys you, but I PROMISE you it would be a whole lot worse if we just kept going at maximum speed in the extreme difficulty playthroughs.
