@@dreamcore_gg an added bonus is maybe using this on weapon swap. If you aren’t going hard into duration skills (or if you just want that added duration on Time Freeze) you can use some weapon swap points too.

I just want to mention that even if the 50% "less" time freeze effect is in effect, you'd still have a 30 second freeze into another 15 seconds freeze. And only 15 seconds downtime until the next 15 seconds freeze. And this repeats at that after the first time freeze, the boss is still in-actionable for 50% of the time forthright for the rest of the boss as you buy time snap cooldown inside of time freeze if you time snap right after time freeze. If you use a few combos and then use time snap, it's still like 33% of the time the boss is inactionable. But a lot of bosses will just die in 45 seconds...

The number 1 thing in my opinion to test with this concept is how the tree might look with it's own weapon set tree. If everything snap shots correctly, you could freeze the boss, drop all of your duration skills and then swap to a second setup, whether that's focusing on a single target skill for bossing or ad clear for general play I don't know but it's something to think about.

So there's a unique jewel called The Adorned that increases effects of corrupted MAGIC Jewels by up to 100%. You can also get a Timeless jewel that can give you 8% skill effect duration per notable in radius. If we slot the timeless jewel near Protraction, that's an additional 124% (8 notables, 8% each, 100% inc from jewel) duration. Also because that skill effect duration tag is a suffix, you can get 32% curse effect (2%, 8 notables, 100% from jewel) as a prefix. Since we now have to allocate all of those notables, there's an additional jewel slot we have to pick up, so we can slot an additional sapphire with added skill duration and curse effect for 18% and 6% respectively, both of which are doubled to 36% and 12%. This gives us a new total of 328% skill duration and 100% curse effect. With the shield that also increases skill effect duration by 50%, that has to be at least a 40 second time stop.

How cool that is. I am also building a time freeze chrono. One thing to note here: the only condition for perma time freeze is to get the skill duration time on skill panel to over 30 s. This can be achived by a build that unlock as many jewels sockets possible, put magic corrupted 15% skill effect duration jew, and amp with unique jewelry that improves their effects. Note: the curse will make the single cast of time freeze last more than 30 s, but you will still receive half time penalty on 2 nd cast. Because temporal chain will make all debuff last longer, including the hidden debuff of “time half penalty” from time freeze. You just cannot see the debuff on mobs.

Hey @dreamcore_gg, this is currently one of the pillars I have my current build structured around and I have tested the interaction you talk about (whether time freeze diminishing returns count from the beginning of the freeze or the end). I can confirm that the diminishing returns count from the END of the timefreeze so freezing enemies permanently is not possible (Edit: It may be possible if you get your freeze to last over a minute). However, if you really think about it, a 30 second freeze followed by a 15 second freeze should really be enough to kill anything in the game, at that point do you really need to freeze something forever? I have a few videos on my channel if you want to see some gameplay which uses some of the interaction here.

@@TimoRutanen Yeah that should work, but basically it seemed like when you freeze a mob, it counts how many freezes it had been affected by in the previous 30 seconds and applied that many diminishing returns. My current test is using an 8.7 second time freeze with a 38% debuff extension temporal chains curse. Total freeze duration is a tiny bit over 12 seconds. My freeze cooldown is 40.77 seconds so if I use it right away after it wears off it just barely clips the 30 second mark. I went to a mob and just spammed it and for the 2nd cast it did get hit by DR. The third time I cast it though it only had a single diminishing return applied to it (same total freeze as the 2nd cast), so it doesn't look like you have to do a full reset of all the diminishing returns by waiting out the 30 seconds. Quick Edit: One important thing though is that regular freeze does not have any sort of overlap / interaction with time freeze, so if you're clever you could find a way to apply an ACTUAL freeze right as its about to end, keeping them locked up while you wait out the diminishing return. Combine this with the hopefully large magnitude temporal chains curse and they get 1 maybe 2 actions before your DR is up again and you can full freeze.

@@dreamcore_gg Hope it helps. If its any more assistance to you here are some of the outcomes of my experiments with duration skills and ones I found useful. Ball Lightning / Lightning warp: The shocked ground from lightning warp is boosted by duration. Overcharge support does not reduce this duration since it reduces the duration of your shocks, not your shocked ground. Sigil of power: Skill granted from chiming staff. Powerful buff that lasts longer with more duration. Elemental Conflux: Not super useful. Duration increases the time between swaps for when it rotates which element it boosts. So instead of 8 seconds between swaps it would be 16 seconds. Does not let you double up buffs by having the duration extend the buff into the next element in the rotation. Soul Offering: Puts a skeletal minion on a spike for a big DPS boost, Duration extends buff duration. Starts the revive countdown as soon as the offering is cast, but cannot actually revive the spiked minions until the spike expires. If the buff is still in effect when revive cooldown ends you will have to wait another cooldown. Can be set up so the buff expires right before your revive goes off, causing an almost instant minion revive. The buff does not appear to have a range associated with it so you can cast it on a minion and keep mapping without fear of it being destroyed. Frostbolt: Extends chilled ground duration Frostbomb: Exposure granted via frostbomb is boosted by duration, but the time before the explosion is also increased.

You can also equip the unique helmet which gives you the gemling ascension passive where you can use the same support on more than one gem... Overabundant overabundance...

If you are interested in archmage post potential-archmage-nerf scaling then adding burning inscription to your temp chains is also quite strong. 20% max mana base damage/s that scales with spell damage, the burning ground duration will scale with the skill effect duration and temp chains also benefits it in that the enemies being slowed have a hard time leaving the burning ground itself. allowing you to curse and move on to the next pack.

I'm running a time freeze / slow magnitude chrono as a support for my friends. Currently 14s time freeze (can cast twice, second one reduced effect) and 80% slow temp chains on white mobs (self casted or blasphemy with less slow). Feels nice as support with friends (sceptre + another curse depending on dps style, preferably chaos since despair curse + withered 50 stack is a huge dmg boost). I wouldn't play as solo. I can't see a situation where more than 15s time freeze is needed since you can double cast it as well. For mapping, blasphemy temp chains and the chrono aura can just completely stop whites (100% slow) and for bosses and more difficult elites, time freeze is there. Also it is budget: my char is below like 1 div and I'm running some rarity with the unique gloves that make every enemy killed by my allies count as killed by me. It's very fun!

That is a cool setup for bossing. The mapping option is using the chronomancer 20% aoe slow, temp chains with blasphemy (with enough levels its about 20% slow after blasphemy penalty), hinder (15% slow, you get it from a curse wheel that says hinder enemies you curse) and maim from a wheel next to ranger that says attacks have 25% chance to maim (30% slow). That is a 85% aoe slow. Then you have 2 options (since the blasphemy penalty is really harsh, you would have to invest too much into curse effect): you scale slow debuff magnitude (+20% would be enough) or you play any ice based attack to sprinkle chill on top of all of that. Nothing can move if they get close to you and you are attacking, however this doesnt work well with bosses because they are slow resistant. If you dont want to play with maim you would have to invest into chill magnitude and play a frost or frost convert skill to make it work, but chill magnitude and many slow magnitude nodes are close to the debuff duration stuff. Maybe there is a way to squeeze both strategies at the same time and make a really disgusting build.

@kitsonfung yes, that is why the alternative is cold spells, or even cold attacks if you dont want to path to the maim on attack node (bottom right of the tree). The only synergy chronomancer has with spell builds is that time freeze and time snap have a cast time, and it can be solved for attack builds with a decent cast speed roll on an amulet or arcane tempo support in one of them. If you take the aoe slow ascendancy you cant take time snap, but you can still support time freeze with second wind to solve the problem.

Been doing this in ssf for a while now with gas arrow and pelt them with any other bow skill im feeling at the time I swap often. Most things are slow as hell, I call it my “grandpa build because you don’t need much reaction time to play. Even in t10 I can get away with having negative resistances. I do get one tapped occasionally every now and then but I don’t care about that. Is it op? Nope. Is it meta? Nope but it’s my build and it’s fun to me.

With *every* non-specific passive in the tree for Skill Duration Increase and a Persistence (40% increase) support gem, you can have 278% increased skill duration. To put it in perspective, a single projectile from one cast of Spark will last for about 7.5 seconds, when the base cast time is 0.7 sec.

As an alternate to resetting the cooldown there is a shield that gives a large increase to cooldown speeds, on its own it should get the cooldown to 40ish seconds

This was more or less my first character and it feels REALLY good. I used temp chains aura and some self cast spells to let myself kill any rare pretty much for free. Getting that much skill effect duration comes at a huge cost though, so I only got about 150% increased duration but it was still really strong. The only issue with timefreeze (to me at least) is it doesn't halt other debuff timers on the target, which I really think it should. It would be nice to get a super long ignite on a frozen enemy or not have to track chaos dots while you hexblast etc

There’s a unique helmet that can use two of the same support skill gems Solus something and with mercenary ascendancy you might be able to two skills with 4 limits

The best part is that you don't have to invest in duration, most of the duration nodes can be reached using 2nd weapon set points. So you just build whatever main damage normally, minions/archmage/melee all fine, and just weapon switch for a 15 seconds time freeze to dunk on bosses.

There is an Asian player abusing this. Bosees die frozen right at the start of match. And you can also search for Chronomancer support there are other players abusing this skill effect duration.

Hey there Dreamcore, I usually do not watch a lot of YT related content related to games, because I am not a meta player or follow any guides. But its fun to see people discover this ascendancy and all the cool stuff it can do. I was playing this since day one, the moment they announced Chronomancer and revealed all the I knew this is what I am going to do. I think I have some valueable insights here. Two mainly: First: Time Freeze halved duration is tracked for 30seconds after the Time Freeze ends, so you cannot indefinitely Time Freeze. With a hyper focused setup on this I can freeze mobs for roughly 70 seconds.(With Enough CDR and Second Wind you can Freeze 3 times in a row and with lucky cooldown rests even longer). But I decided against that route, because I rather have a better curse/aura setup. So I am "only" Time Freezing mobs for up to 50 seconds btu have 100% temp chains with 56% Enfeeble and a 66% Ele Curse. Also Temp Chains seems to mess with the halved duration, because the second freeze is slightly longer than halv the duration. Realsitically you only need 30-40 seconds at MOST for most meta buidls to kill any pinnacle boss (even with 6 man party health), so investing more into it doesn't make any difference. Second: Temp Chains can be boosted further by using Blasphemy, because it then coutns as Curse and Aura and Sapphire Jewls can have up to 5% Curse Effect and up to 10% Aura Effect (plus there is more Aura Effect close to the Tempalr start, close to one Skill Effect Duration cluster). I have not done the exact math, but that should be better than skill effect duration (on jewels). But even if it is not better or it gives you way more utility and support value, because it boosts a plethora of other things. I am playing my Chronomancer as a Aura + Curse Bot with various different setups, depending on my group. Two more small things which are kinda funny. If you get Temp Chains to over 100% effect on solo play, the mob is entirely frozen. This does not work in roup play for some reason. (Some curses are less effective per player in the area). but even when hitting above 100% Temp Chaisn with multiple players in the instance mobs still move. And the other one, you forgot the Unique Shield Arvil's Wheel for another 50% Skill Effect Duration. (You can use that as a Weapon Swap Time Freeze and for nothing else)

Some awesome info here, thanks! I agree that in solo play it's not really too effective to all-in on the freeze setup, with the slow aura stuff being so superior for mapping etc. which is the majority of the game, but it's cool nonetheless. Also interesting idea with the blasphemy setup, I'll need to look into it. I can help with the group play/mobs no longer being fully frozen - slows have a base less effect modifier for monsters for everything above normal rarity, normal has no modifier so at 100% they're fully locked, but in group play all monsters gain an additional stacking 10% less effect of slows on them per player over the first, so no amount of slow can ever fully freeze them anymore!

@@dreamcore_gg I do know the less effect modifier for magic, rare and unique monsters, but still the mobs not being entirely frozen in 2+ players even though temp chains is at 100+% is kinda weird, because the extra paler just make the %nubmer on the curses go lower, but if I pushed my Temp Chains to 135% on duo and it just doesn' do anything further, I initially thought I might need to hit a higher breakpoint to fully freeze again. But investing into effectiveness is still pretty good to get magic, rares and uniques even mroe slowed/enfeebled. Having mobs 100% frozen is a huge QoL for this build if I charge into mobs first before my carry, because then they don't walk towards me and body block as much, because there is always space between them to dodge roll through. Anyway cool to see people jumping on the Chronomancer train. Still feels weird to me, because I am usually a SSF player doing the most Hipster stuff possible and this time around what I did as the (probably) first person seems to be very effective and almsot "meta". Will probably not watch more of your videos but still left you a sub for good measurement.

@@HeavyMetalDeathMan Having multiple players in an instance just applies a global 10% less slow modifier to all monsters per player beyond the first, so at that point you can no longer fully freeze them no matter how much effect you have, but yeah chrono with the ascendancy slow + temp chains is extremely comfy for mapping

I also doing the same build as yours but I am having a hard time in leveling,low in dps and can't slow boss effectively,and slow also not effective in team play,really struggling now and doubt whether should continue or change another build

@@kitsonfung this is not a leveling build. You should level with some more traditional spellcaster stuff, even though the ascendency is not doing much, but you should have an easy enough time to finish the campaign. After that, this is a pure support build, so you need other players. Also the build doesn't really come online until you have a lot of things. 30% slow magnitude corrupt on gloves, all 3 slow magnitude clusters on the passive tree, curse/aura effect jewels with a little bit of curse area jewels, all the curse and skill effect duration cluster. 3 curses for temp chains, enfeeble and a ele curse that helps your team the most. For extra support Merit of Service + Glancing Blow h 1x 5% block chance node to give your team 75% block. Alpahs Howl to make Apex of Moment and Merit of Service a lot better. Once you have a bit more budget you can also get Gravebind + Rarity gear. You will not be as good as a dedicated magic finder, but still can reach 200+ rarity.

So there are setup basically playing against enemies that don't move eh. GGG sure has a lot on their plate, no doubt Archmage will be first on the chopping block, I suspect rarity also and I dread to think of the Invoker monk with Herald of Thunder and Ice (I'm running one). But the thing with those crazy duration number is, I doubt a setup that invest heavily in that will be able to build a substantial mana pool, though everything is so knew to me, it might still be possible. Don't forget theres about 65% CDR nodes as well you to mix with this, pretty sure you can hit around 95% CDR very easily

I have found time freeze to be good on my hexblast blasphemy setup, I think it’s really good paired with Crest of Ardura for cooldown recovery. You can use Ingenuity or use Second Wind with the Now and Again passive to try and get a bunch of procs in a row. It’s a very good defensive ability so I think it will be popular for hardcore

Just to let you know, I don't think there is currently a way to add quality to ascendancy skills, so adding quality to Time Freeze and Time Snap might not be possible.

Does skill effect duration work on the ascendancy node 'Quicksand Hourglass'? 200% increase would mean 50% more spellhaste for 12 seconds every 12 seconds

Just heads up that you can also have curse effect on jewels as well (about 4% to 5%) and you can have both that and effect duration. So on 5 jewels youd have another 25% effect on temp chains. Still, thanks for the video! I love seeing more shenanigans for Chrono. I made one despite it being weak because of the coolness factor and made it a slow chrono with temp chains blasphemy and apex with a bunch of support so mobs are slowed by like 70%. Its not a blaster build but builds like the one in the video just make it worth playing xD.

No it doesn't, slow has a less effect, so the slow portion of temporal chains is halved, but the slower expiry modifier is not affected

Hey, Dreamcore! Awesome video. I've been thinking about possibilities for duration in PoE 2 since there's so much of it, so this was a fantastic listen. Are you aware of how it interacts with Quicksand Hourglass? I think with the 50% duration shield it'd be possible to get the duration past 12 seconds, but the problem is whether the duration also increases the length of time between procs, in which case it's all moot haha

Even if the duration gets halved, you can still get 1 and another half time freeze with a Now and Again proc or by using Second Wind. It can also be effective to setup Chaotic Freeze with a chaos dot and Hexblast Blasphemy to Freeze a boss after Time freeze expires

For bosses this is op. Just remember though for mobs, time frozen enemies body block you even after they die, so waiting 30 seconds to progress through the map cause you’re stuck in some hallway with frozen enemies in your way isn’t fun.

That explains what happened to me In a breach. I was surrounded by like 20 mobs and couldn't move. The mobs that were trying to get to me that were not Timestopped pushed the inanimate ones closer and when they woke up they ate my face.

hey man so first of all happy new second of all i have a question does the lucky damage calculation start at the start of the conversation chain or the end of it ? for example lets say we have a lighting skill like lighting arrow it converts 80% of the phys dmg to lightning then we get the lucky dmg node on the tree for non crit lightning damage is lucky then we use call of the brotherhood to convert all of our lighting damage to cold will the lucky modifier still apply to our new cold dmg ?

Lucky damage should only apply to the damage types being dealt, so if you're converting lightning damage into something else, the converted damage shouldn't benefit from the lucky modifier. However a lot of this stuff needs to be tested to confirm as some of the operations have changed order for PoE2

I've test time freeze. The 30 seconds counts at the start of time freeze. But temporal chains will also prolong this 30 sec penalty. I'm not sure this bug or intended. For now permanent freeze is a thing but will you have to get 614% skill effect duration. My time freeze is now 20 sec with temporal chains. It's easy to reach and long enough.

Skill duration(and everything else) is snapshotted from the passive tree for persistent effects, the weapon swap system kind of wouldn't even function if that wasn't the case, so you can use it for this tech

Edited: Nevermind, I was wrong. At 4:29, I believe you did your math wrong. You should be multiplying the base value by 1 plus the slower expiry rate, not dividing by 1 minus the slow magnitude. With your math, 100% reduced rate of expiration would result in infinite duration, or just break as you are dividing by 0. In reality, it just doubles the duration of the effect. The correct number for this point in the video is actually 21.92, which is still good but it isn't the exponential scaling that results from the way you were doing the math.

Slower expiry rate is capped at 75% for an effective 4x duration, you can't reach 100% www.poewiki.net/wiki/Expiration_rate Also the maths isn't wrong, if it was calculated as you've put, it would simply be a 25% more duration modifier, but duration modifiers are not the same as expiration rate modifiers. Duration modifiers apply directly to a duration, while expiration rate modifiers don't actually modify a duration, they just change how quickly time passes for that effect

@@dreamcore_gg There might be a chance it's uncapped for PoE2 because white monsters are able to be 100% slowed, I currently have 130% temp chains and normal monsters don't move anymore (In PoE1 temp chains slow effect and expire effect was hardcapped together). There is a hardcap on higher rarity monsters (90% magic, 80% rare and 75% unique), but I think that has to do with the slow effect reduction to those mobs and expiry rate has no decrease to higher rarity monsters. Then again getting that much curse effectiveness, to get 100% expiry rate, is pretty hard but not impossible. (Not trying it tho :P)

Almost doing that, Chrono blasphemy área "stacking" with hexblast, 9secs on the time stop + Freeze(cuase chaos support able to) bosses doesnt move too much and when they do, they are faking slow hehe

Chronomancer is the best for bossing. I can freeze the boss for 25 seconds and if its still alive then time snap and get another time freeze off lmao. Bossing has never been easier

Cool tech, especially for bosses, but most of the gameplay is not bossing. It is mapping. Which would be terrible with this build. I believe there is supposed to be a Tornado skill (think it might be disabled currently?), and I think that would be significantly improve mapping for this type of build.

It might not be a top build right now but down the line if theres an actual really hard boss, this 0 dps build can be out of control for groups. Pretty much any group of glass cannons can nuke a boss down in 45 seconds (two time freezes one after another), which is something no other build can even hope for atm.

@@LACHKOTO I mean the really strong meta builds currently would have no use for this tech, as they kill pinnacle bosses in under 5 seconds lol. When the nerfs start coming though and the game becomes the way GGG intends, this tech could become very powerful (granted there is no way it survives the nerfs at it's current power).

They have less slow modifier, the slow from temp chains is impacted but not the slower expiry portion of the curse

Your calculation is 265% of the original number. 3 seconds increased by 265% is 10.95 seconds (3 * 3.65 = 10.95).

This is what I've been doing on my SSF Chronomancer, with a weapon swap to the unique shield. Hopefully doesn't get nerfed cause this is literally all Chronomancer has going for it atm. There is no damage from the ascendancy itself without this.

​@@dreamcore_gg The original idea was to max Time Freeze to avoid boss mechanics. I tried Hammer of Gods, but clear speed was clunky and increased duration mess up with HoG landing time. What could work nice with duration is Spark, but mana is an issue so I end up levelling with minions. Skeletal Reavers have decent clear speed and very good boss damage, also its visually clean, no flashing screen where you can't see any DoT ground effects. I tried to give my minions effect from Choir of the Storm amulet, it doesn't work :( so I keep searching, but the more I invest in minion gear the more difficult is to switch to anything else.

Weapon sets. Seems like You can take all the points with Your 24 weapon set skills. You can have max duration for time freeze and put the points into damage otherwise. Too many people sleep on the power of weapon sets.

Works until you fight Zarokh in Trial of the Sekhema. You cannot pause during that fight, and I don't know if it's a thematic choice, an oversight or a mechanical restriction (time pausing/unpausing in a boss fight that also pauses and unpauses time, may cause unexpected issues).

Althought good meme potential, where is the damage? You kind of have to spend nearly all points on skill effect duration and curse effect. It could be a perma freeze boss thing, but mapping would be terrible. Another meme with effect duration is the 105% reduced skill effect duration with grenades on a warrior - makes fuses to never go off. So if its possible to grenade stack before initiating a boss and manually detonating and instantly kill bosses? Could be meme potential.

Yeah that much investment is a bit of a meme, it's more for dramatic effect in the video but even 2-3 wheels and some jewels has a ridiculously long freeze duration and you can fairly easily build it into some spark/archmage setup

This is absolutely bonkers. I noticed you didn't mention the quality increase for the time freeze skill. With that, you could push the freeze duration another 2-3 seconds which would make it 29-30 seconds which is more than enough time to obliterate most bosses.

It is not broken dude, most meta builds (not talking about Archmage which can also do that, but more about Monk and some setups for Infernalist for example), can kill a boss in less than 5 seconsd, even a pinacle boss. So if you really need 30 seconds of the boss stand there doing nothing, you either have a crap build with 0 dps (because you wasted so many resources to do the whole perma freeze) or you are just making a meme build just for fun, any build that need the boss to stay there for that long is a weak build. Of course it sounds cool and fun, but the whole purpose of the game is to be stronger, not to make the boss weaker so it is as weak as you.

@@reasonsreasonably You can do whatever you want in a game, the design is not for that, you can just create characters in Black Desert, that doesn't mean the game was mede to do that, every game has an objective in mind when it's made, in this one is to create builds, make them stronger and defeat bosses and grind a lot. If you are having fun doing meme builds, that's okay, but that's not the purpose of the game, the design they had in mind.

All cool and nifty. But unless you have a showcase and/or demonstration. This is just theory crafting. We won't know if this works on bosses because hidden in-game mechanics and what nots.

Oh no, sacrificing your entire skill tree for utility based defenses lets you make them work as intended is somehow bad, but blowing up a boss which is supposed to take 1-5 minutes in 10 seconds is clearly fine... I see mathlets at work again.
