Well, we’re funded, builders hopefully on board to get the work done, all that’s missing now is grant approval. Since that’s the case, I realllly need to get moving on having the house ready for the tradies

Oh those saucers and teacups are lovely - I love that old pattern. If I had that view out my front door I would sit there, with a cup of tea in one of those lovely teacups, and drink it while smiling at the cows, as they smile back love the view! Nice clean up.

I will have to tell the council that a lot of people are waiting on an answer 😂 I did email them Tuesday and haven’t heard back yet, but if I don’t hear today they’ll be getting a call tomorrow… it’s actually insane it’s taking this long when other counties 20 mins from me get an inspection in 1 week!!! I wasn’t frustrated until I learned the builders could potentially start next month if grant approval is in place… now I feel like I’m against the clock again and getting no answer from the council :( but it’ll come just have to be patient 🥲😂

There’s a lot to do right! I’m actually really enjoying all of it, I definitely get a bit stressed with the grant because it’s out of my control, but other than that I’m really enjoying doing it all! I can’t wait til the cows are my full time neighbours!

Oh no way, that is amazing she had the same kinda dishes! It must be something all Irish grandmas have! She has other ones as well, so depending on if anyone else in the family wants them I may also get them which I think would be really nice to keep a piece of her close and in the home - she was a massive gardener so I definitely think I got that from her anyway! ❤️

Oh I’m SO lucky, the house is in the perfect little spot, I really feel so lucky that I found this gem! I have major grant envy 😂😂😂 the neighbour is so nice but when he told me his grant was approved and work was starting I was so jealous! And then to walk by the scaffolding 🥲😂 fingers crossed I’ll get some soon! And I love the little bits that I got from grans house, so special to have a little of her with me, and I’m glad I got my home while she could hear about all the mad ideas! Definitely lots to look forward to doing once the grant approval is in ❤️❤️

Great video .I think you’re doing an absolute amazing job on your own. Every time that you clear out one spot, it makes you much closer to getting the whole picture and just think maybe bringing your Grandmas dishes to the house will bring you good luck. I have the same dishes from my grandmother who is Irish and I cherish them I think you’re totally absolutely amazing to tackle this job. I love autumn so i dont mind the wind and rain as long as im tucked up nice and warm inside. Just think that this time next year you will have a beautiful cosy home with the log burner to keep you all warm. Whilst waiting for the grant maybe look at paint colours and flooring to take your mind off it for a while. Your grans crockery is so lovely and you will think of her whenever you use it. Just wondering about the missing fireplace. Here in the US, I've seen older houses that have the fireplaces set in the corners of rooms, especially in instances where two rooms/fireplaces will be availing themselves of the same chimney. Don't know if that's true of Irish cottages as well but maybe?

Oh that’s very interesting to know, the fireplace could be in that corner, I didn’t remove any of the cement because there is a hole and it seems a little unstable, on the opposite side of the corner in the other room they’ve put the hot water tank so we may never get to use the fireplace anyway! But it has perplexed me 😂

Hi Asling and Morrigan I am so mad they still have not sent the guy out, I would be on the phone daily as at this stage it is ridiculous. Your Grandmas little tea pot is so cute and having the cows on it, well it was meant to be yours, the little extra saucer you could put up on a wall, or use on a dresser for jewellery. I love the cows coming to see you and I think talking to them makes them more inclined to come over, hope Morrigan gets to be happy around them soon as no threat. Those flowers ??? were they just on the verge ?? I would def take one of each from the root and plant in your place how amazing think they are nasturtiums so the just multiply all the time, and the flowers you can put in salads as well as the leaves. It's really hard to tell from what is exposed, but do you think there is a chance that there is a small little fireplace in the area where those stones are missing? Like it looks like some of it was plugged up but maybe not all of it, or some of it shifted? I'm probably imagining things, but it sort of looks like a little fireplace to me. Great news on the funding! I'm sure you'll get news of the grant any day now.

I was also thinking the hole looks like it could have been part of a fireplace, I did have a bit of a look in, and while it wasn’t super clear it looked like the rest was wall rather than fireplace - now could be wrong, but once the cement comes down will hopefully be able to tell better! Fingers and toes crossed for grant news this week I’m so impatient at this point!

Hi! Required probably isn’t the right word, I could pay the builders to do the strip out, so I’m doing it mostly to save a little money and also to feel hands on with the process, I’d like to do whatever I can myself where possible :)

I don't understand why you keep taking the plaster off the walls , are you going to have to replaster all that stone and then put up drywall and insulation? You are definitely going to have to get someone to help you. I can't wait until the actual work begins. I know you're waiting on a grant but I don't think I would touch much of anything, until a builder comes? Oh the rain in Ireland I remember it well I lived in Belfast for 2 years. Hi Jackie! So all the plaster has to come down, it’s moldy, wet, and the styrofoam underneath it is a huge fire risk. The stone walls need to be repointed and repaired in places. Once that is done, builders will come in and do the studwork, insulating, dry lining, plastering, heating, electrics, and plumbing. Parts of the walls will remain stone walls, parts will be plasterboarded. The worst thing I could do is leave the cement and moldy plaster on it. The reason I’m taking it down myself is that a. I want to be fully hands on with as much as I feel comfortable doing, and b. Cost wise it would cost me thousands more in cash to pay a builder to do the strip out, makes the most sense financially and for my own personal satisfaction, to do it myself!
