These time lapses do a nice job showcasing the skills Ken and his crew bring to a job, starting with concrete (which many guys sub out) through framing and finishing. And seeing them pre-fab walls off-site shows they are working smarter and incorporating some modular production methods. Well done!

A good way to end the year. From start to finish. I’m thinking it’s about time for a review of material and how it’s gone down or up. Thanks for this fantastic year of building.

I think it’s a great idea to see where we collectively stand. I know it took me three days to get a quote from carrol concrete which made me gasp. I am out of state right now so chasing the time zone difference made it hard. These videos also make it easier to locate local supply alternatives. Instead of dealing with New Hampshire mills, there are local miller’s who can help. Guys within a radius of Reygate. So Ken, where is your closet Lowe’s or Home Depot?

I don't remember the site work on this one. Nice job! Slab goes in like butter! Wall building like clockwork. They work opposite each other to avoid nails going into each other. The walls go up so fast. Sheathing flies on. Cutting out the doors and windows. Trusses up! Just Chad and Dan doing then for a time. Plywood the roof! Nice shoes Ken! Chad bringing up plywood so fast to Dan. Sheathing the gable ends. Roof membrane up. House wrap on and windows and doors installed. I like the grade stake idea for the ladder. Roof rakes up. Soffit on. Garage doors installed. Metal roof panels on. I like the "super perfect" with Dan on a roll! Vinyl siding on. Beautiful! I love these "super" builds where you can see it from start to finish in one video. Thanks for this Ken! The first build of last year too. I hope your Christmas was wonderful!

Glad to see plastic down first. It is hard to get the old timers to use plastic around here. They sure embraced the idea of drilling and using anchor bolts instead of setting them in wet concrete.

I think yall should be putting the house wrap overtop of the window flange and tucking your window tape underneath the wrap. To me it also doesn’t make sense to tape the bottom flange as that is going to stop water from escaping. Let me know what you think?
@kenskarpentry Жыл бұрын
The tape seals tight to the house wrap so it shouldn’t leak. We haven’t had call backs in 35 years.

I have only seen you put down a small pad for the door, and a small overhang above the door to prevent rain getting on you. I would opt for at least the pad. Is this a cost thing? Or people don't think of it until you are gone? Maybe its just me, lol.

The trusses are rated for snow load in the area. We use 5/8 cdx plywood on the roof.
