Super clean...as an electrical man, I worry about the led lighting. I suppose it could be done to give access to them should anything go wrong. Or some nice 4” mini’s centered in each area. Overall it looks amazing!

Bert meza thanks! Yea we used Tresco lighting products for this not some generic brand. We tested and triple checked all our connections. If anything happens though we can fix it in a days work. Thanks for the comment! 👍

nice! and how do you control the led lights? did you make a traditional switch for it on the wall? or is it on the remote? if its on the remote where do you have the sensor receiving the remote commands? thanks
@ngkconstructioninc.9406
@ngkconstructioninc.9406 4 жыл бұрын
Andrew Tkachenko we did it on a wireless switch. we ran an outlet in the attic where we plugged in the 5 transformers that connected to 5 remote sensors that had leads to each tape light section efficient for enough wattage to each transformer. We used one 12v FREEDiM series deco wall dimmer about 30’ from the transformers. Thanks for watching!👍

So they have connectors for LED strips, stone have 2 some have 4. My experience soldering is better. Also if doing 12v you will need to solder multiple locations because of voltage drop

I love the ceiling, great work and great video.....but. I would lose sleep worrying about the inevitable day that just one of the hundreds of LED's stops working, leaving a dark spot. That's all I would see until the day i replaced it. Then, you better make sure you bought extra because Lord knows that a light purchased 5 years from now will be a different hue, even if off a little, forget about it.
@MarkJones-rl9ph

I was thinking the same thing...how the Hell do you remove all of that to replace them then?!? I ran lights in my kitchen above my cabinets for accent, and they burn out every year or so...
@lvmykdz5724
@lvmykdz5724 4 жыл бұрын
Mark Jones You are telling my story, I gave up on above cabinet lights. Funny how they tell you LED lights are supposed to last forever, but I am having incandescent bulbs in my house for the last 15 years never burn out. During the same time I go through multiple CFL’s and LED’s.
@georgiafan6618
@georgiafan6618 4 жыл бұрын
@@lvmykdz5724 I ran Romex above and below my cabinets and hardwired the incandescent light boxes to wall switches. Never had an issue in 15 years. If I want LED, I can swap bulbs out to an LED but they’re crazy expensive. Leaving it incandescent with adjustable brightness. In the future, LEDs will catch up and be more reliable - but not at the moment.
@ngkconstructioninc.9406

LVMYKDZ yes I understand but we use Tresco lighting which gives me more confidence in the product. We used a 3500k color temp and keep records of this type of info. Replacing is no problem just a days work and they have between 25,000-50,000 hour life span so if they go out early we replace but anything over 25k hours we can fix at the customers expense. Thanks for the comment and watching! 👍

Back in the day (15 years ago) we would install an outlet in every section and/or a few sections and drill holes through beams behind crown. This was back when people used rope lighting-so this way if a strip went bad you could unplug and fish it through or wrap it back around. But I’ll be honest here-if this was my house and that ceiling is that high and mine are still pretty high i would stick a whole extra set in there so when the others went i could flip on the new ones that are just sitting there ready. Expense upfront but way less expensive later!

Love the pattern you chose to make the beams - asymmetrical looks cool. I recently sprayed doors and trim for a project and used an airless. Omg There was so much overspray. I would use an HVLP to spray beams or cabinets in a spot like this but you can’t rent one. What did you guys use to spray? Flawless job and LEDs just frame your effort. 👍
@ngkconstructioninc.9406
@ngkconstructioninc.9406 4 жыл бұрын
Georgia Fan thank you for the comment 👍. The pattern we chose matches the dining room ceiling that we did years ago. We do have a Fuji HVLP sprayer but did not use for this, we used a graco airless and knew we were gonna have overspray but we did it in a sequence that would not effect our progress.

@@elvis459 It’s a bear to climb up a scaffold carrying trim pieces redundantly to measure, then back down again, so you get as close as you can for the joint’s appearance. The nailing blocks don’t have to be exact - they’ll be covered up by crown. When you’re that high up, the joints won’t ever be seen so the joint compound and caulk will more than suffice. PS: Your shoulders are killing you too. Lol
