Does the tilting and then sudden bursting open of the flowers correspond to daily rhythm (tilting during the night and flowers opening in the morning I suppose)?

You're correct, it does. A pretty long time ago I built a system that has photographing light cycle independent of the growing light cycle, but they use the same grow light. So I think it was on 8hr, off 16hr, but every time it takes a photo the grow light comes on for a few moments to take the photo, then turns back off (unless it's during the day, when the light is already on). So the plant reacts like it's night time, but the photos look pretty seamless otherwise. I could make it just dim a bit to represent night but that'd create a lot of flickering. Interestingly, this flower seems to open a different tier of flowers on the raceme each day at about 4pm. Now that I look at the timing, it seems to nod when the light comes on, then steady itself after a few hours. It seems a bit shocked by the sudden light. I wonder how it would react with a more natural and steady increase in brightness.

@@mortrek That is very interesting. A lot of plants nod during the night. A lot of plants also nod during heat. But usually there is a gap between night and heat. Do the flowers open in the afternoon outdoors too?

@@ran.glacialis Yes at about 4pm. The lights would come on at 9am. This was also made during cooler months, so the temperature was very steady.
