@@autopilot117 yeah its most important for everyone to be going the same speed. when everyone is moving as a semi unchanging blob of trafic it makes judging interactions with trafic easier. by going faster or slower you add complexity that can distract or reduce other drivers decision making speed. on top of that, you add interaction to the trafic by forcing people to go around you, or by going around other people. the more people interact with each other on the road [passing, cutting each other off, forcing people behind you to slowdown] the more dangerous it becomes. each instance of interaction is a potential accident.

At 12:25 you pass by the MINI dealership where I got my first new car. At 13:04 you pass a water park I've gone to. 13:50 you pull into the Roseville mall, where I've spent countless hours. I recently drove this road, what I found really neat about it, is you can pull out a compass and set it on your dash as you drive, it'll go absolutely nuts occasionally as you drive over magnetic ore deposits.
@BikingVikingHH
@BikingVikingHH 2 жыл бұрын
But I’m sure the very low concentration or deposits you drove over tens of meters away at the closest were enough to spin around the compass, instead of the giant iron engine block a few feet from the compass. You people pretend like you know something about science with your made up stories, when you probably don’t even have a drivers license
@cddevelopment363
@cddevelopment363 2 жыл бұрын
@@BikingVikingHH here's the same phenomenon happening to a mountain hiker. It's pretty common for MAGNETIC ore deposits to affect compass readings. The difference of course being it's naturally magnetic properties, not it just being a hunk of iron in the ground... But I appreciate the tenacity and boldness to call out a total stranger for their anecdotal experience. I'm sure you're a really likeable person.

Having been trucking for some time I can tell you this video is of US highway 50 that technically goes from cali all the way to the east coast and it is called the loneliest road in America because of an article published in 1986... it is, however, not the loneliest road in America as far as traffic and noise based on distance travelled... that honor goes to Dalton highway in Alaska where it's mostly gravel, almost no stops to pull off into for a 100 miles at a shot and if you see a house or town, or hell another car you'd be freaking lucky as it only gets something like 200 cars a day that travel along it's 414 mile stretch... it is truly an eerie drive that makes you feel very isolated and worried you might break down as it may be hours or even into the next day before someone might come along lol... there is NOTHING for miles and miles on that road save for 3 small towns... truly an incredible drive... (it's also known as state rout 11)

Some states have laws that specify the fast lane (left lane) as passing (overtaking) only on highways/interstates and if you are caught hanging out in the left lane you can be pulled over and ticketed. People hogging the fast lane drive me BONKERS.

Though, I should say that, to my knowledge, I don't think undertaking (which we refer to as passing on the right) is illegal anywhere - though it is dumb and generally frowned upon by anyone with at least half a brain. Driver's education does discourage it (at least, it used to when I took it back in the 90's).

2:24:30 through 2:25:40 is one of my favorite stretches of Interstate 15. The fact that you got through it without hitting any construction zones is even more amazing.

You driving all the way to Moab in the dark reminds me of being a kid when my dad would drive me from my moms house (slc) to his house (moab) at night, I always found it very terrifying to see no interstate lights or lights of any kind when going that kind of distance. Proud of you for powering through it.

perfect video to run in the background while cleaning, having someone over, reading a book ec. i'd chose a slightly different song, so i'll put it on mute while playing some other tune (maybe one way of getting the copy written tune of your choice to a gorgeous road trip video.) i'd say this is my second favorite scenery video right next to the live feed of earth from the space station which I consider a spiritual experience.

Just wondering why you are driving in middle lane when not passing. You stay in middle lane so cars have to pass you on the right. Keep right, except to pass others. Thanks

The first 30 minutes is crossing California from the Silicon Valley and climbing the Sierra Nevada to Lake Tahoe. The "Loneliest Highway" portion really hits its stride at about 39:00, and ends about an hour in. Fast way forward-- ends up at the National Parks in Utah, stops at the Luxor in Vegas (eew,) then off to Disneyland (yay!)

This was quite satisfying to watch. Funny how the traffic on the freeway almost made it seem like your going backwards and forwards at the same time.

I am confuse. Is it normal to overtake from the right? If it's not, is it normal for the slowest car not to be on the rightmost lane? (I never really drive anywhere with more than 2 lanes in each direction)

Did anyone else notice he “didn’t” follow the traffic, but ‘actually’ went the speed limit like a pleb? I mean, good on him for technically following the law, but look at ALL the people that Didn’t. It’s almost safer to go with the flow, than to create an obstacle for all those people by going slower then them all. Though, maybe the Tesla wouldn’t let him speed, ‘cus it drove itself?

I don't understand how you managed to do this without talking to yourself, or apparently even so much as humming or muttering. If it were me I would be singing every song about America I knew (Sweet Home Alabama, Country Roads, Rocky Mountain High, Born in the USA, etc etc) EDIT: correction, just saw the main video and got to the "phwoar f*cking hell" part. As you were.
