My parents also had us join with all the household chores from a young age. I was washing up at 3, making my own packed lunch every day as soon as I could reach the counter, cooking the family meal from age 10 some days. When I used to go to my friends houses and offer to help their parents with the dinner or washing up, they used to mutter that my parents were super strict and mean to 'make' me do chores. Nope. When I got to university I was the only person on my floor who knew how to properly look after myself, cook, clean, do the washing, fix things. It's so good to feel independent. I never once thought my parents were strict, they said from an early age that we should share out the chores, because then it all gets done quicker and we could all relax and have family time together more often.

This parenting is actually good, I was raised with parents who didnt encourage me doing chores. And by the time I went abroad, I feel so stressed because I didnt used to handle these things. And now my siblings go abroad and live with me, and i felt very overwhelm because she rarely help doing chores and not a tidy person so I feel so burnout now

Yes to cleaning your space each day! My husband and I do a twenty minute power clean of our entire house every night right when the kids go down. We have three under three and it’s saved our home. We blast a podcast we both enjoy or chat about our day and then enjoy dessert together when done.

I'm a single Mom with the kids grown and gone. I cannot get over how wise you are about your time and your family as such a young Mom. It took me years to learn about time management, planning daily & weekly calendar/agendas to ease stress in our family. What a wonderful video. I know many will appreciate your ideas, which really does reduce stress. Excellent young woman, you are excellent. 🙂

I love the comment about breaking the habit of thinking "I need more time" and instead choosing to be intentional with your time. I couldn't agree more!! And in a way I feel like this ties into your minimalist views too because a lot of families in small living spaces are stuck in thinking "I need more space" when what they need is to be intentional with the space they do have. Cutting out distractions is probably the most important tip. I see many moms who say they have no time, messy house etc. but like and comment on every facebook and instagram post. You need to be honest with yourself about wasting time and then take that time back. It doesn’t mean you can’t ever watch youtube or scroll instagram but do it during a time you set for yourself not on a whim.

I tell my therapy clients to, at least, practice the 10 minute rule. Every day, if that's all you think you have, spend 10 days doing something in your home... folding laundry, washing dishes, reading through mail... whatever... Usually 10 minutes a day can keep things from piling up and most often, once we've started, even if it takes more than 10 minutes, we'll continue to finish or not... but if we dedicate only 10 minutes, at least we've done something!

So, I've been following Sarah for years! I'm a 40 year old mother, wife and Christian. It has been a joy to watch this young family grow and mature. Not only as they age but in Christ. Channels like these are so important in this day and age where the enemy is so prevalent on social media platforms. So keep it up my sister, I will continue to pray for you. Remember to keep your eyes on the straight and narrow path.

Engaging your kids in house chores is soooo important! It’s a must! It is teaching them to take care of themselves and others. Of causes it has to be age appropriate. One of our house rules is: “We live here together, we clean together” and I don’t feel bad about it in any way. I had to do chores when I was a kid and I think this prepared me to be independent, organized and responsible adult

When you talked about delegating, I broke down. I felt like a lot or most of the pressure falls on me and feel guilty when I don’t do everything. It’s impossible for me to do it all and I wish my partner would see that more often. I have a toddler at home with me and one on the way and it’s been a rough first trimester. Thank you for this video ❤️
@JadeJefferies
@JadeJefferies 3 жыл бұрын
Oh I feel this deep in my soul. My partner owns his own business so can be very busy with work, often leaving before our toddler is awake and not getting back until about an hour before the toddler is due to go to sleep. I feel like everything to do with the house work and looking after the little one is left down to me. I'm also pregnant with a second on the way and find it so difficult, but also because my partner is always tired when he gets home I feel bad asking for help though I wish he could do more. He drives me mad when he leaves socks on the stairs or dishes on the counter and doesn't tidy up straight away or just walks past his socks as I can't not see the mess. We are very fortunate that now we are financially able to get help (a nanny one full day a week and nursery two mornings a week), which are going to be fundamental in making sure I have more time to myself to concentrate on my own work and getting some house bits done when the toddler is out the house. Sorry for my ramble on your comment but I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone with feeling like this, I'm with you and understand how hard it feels 💗

@@JadeJefferies Sending you HUGS!💛💛💛You said you have a nanny 1 day a week and nursery 2 mornings a week for mor “ME TIME”, then said it’s for cleaning and doing work. That’s not me time. Are you able to dedicate 1 morning a week for some actual me time? Resetting will help you be a better mama and wife! I promise! Your partner comes home from work tired, but you work all day too! And you are creating a human! Do not feel guilty asking for help! You both live there! If you don’t do it now, he will never know what you need (as far as support inside the home goes) and it is possible you could become resentful. Speak to him. Tell him how you are feeling. You deserve support on the home front, mama!! Good luck and Congratulations on your new babes!!💛💛💛

Please please please, keep content coming with parenting wisdom, time management, homemaker, home schooling/ intentionally raising kids and being a wife, and how you maximize your money/financial soundness. I love that you buy with intention/minimalism.. how health & DIY/intentional home making saves money! Sustainable living and what you consider each kid’s need: each kid has a stainless steel water bottle, 1 pair of summer sandals, etc. I am here for all of this - spending budget on intentional needs. What each kid gets new vs. hand me downs from your other kids. :)

Our family has learned we can only plan 1 day at a time. We meet each day to see what everyone's goals are and what is time sensitive and go from there! If we do more than that, we just end up changing the plan 16 times during the week, and then I get frustrated and overwhelmed 🤷🙂

I learn so much from you and you inspire me to do better! My husband is away from home all day and I think that’s one of the reasons it’s so difficult for me to plan and have the capacity to be committed to doing things at a certain time of day- the kids are so unpredictable and need me while I’m in the middle of doing something. Plans get thrown off all the time so I’ve gotten in the habit of not planning at all. Thanks so much for sharing the PDF that works along side all the tips and tricks you have shared for time management. I can fully relate as a full time working Mumma of 3. Time management is my only way of thriving in life not just surviving. Each season is a gift from God and I don't want to wish any season away, no matter how challenging/hard it may be.

Thanks Sarah, I definitely need some discipline in this area. Some really good ideas in your video. I just cleaned the kitchen before I went to bed so it won’t overwhelm me in the morning and help me get organised. Getting on it! Xx

so true in involving your kids in chores. I have always done it with older lot and now my youngest is quite capable too:) expecting number 4 now too:) I just want to say that now that my kids are older the time management is even more important. I only homeschool my younger two now as my eldest has gone to school for the first time. The life changes so much too:( enjoy them while they are small and the saying small kids small problems is so true! now that they heading into teenager hood dynamics in our house have changed so much.

When I plan, what helps for me is 1. prioritizing before scheduling 2. Have a "theme" for the week I.e. a focus area 3. Doing what can be done in 30mins that will bring the most impact Other things that help - DECLUTTERING AND ORGANIZING!!

Invite your kids into your schedule!!! Love this! You don't have to ALWAYS carve out separate time to spend with them. Just allow them to join you wherever you are already spending your time. Dishes, cooking, laundry...sidekicks make ot all more fun!
