My instructor also demonstrate this time saving haircut technique. It's wonderful that you also posted this technique as well. I would watch this over and over again unit I masters it.😊

I appreciate the effort put into this video, but I would like to provide a counterpoint to some of these techniques. Reverse Point Cutting: The utilization of this technique depends entirely on the look you want. If you're desiring a very messy, "texturized to the max" look, then it suffices. In general I would still do an even, dependable line and then soften that line. Which does not mean that when I "add texture/movement" I'm completely breaking down the walls I've built. I'm just softening them. Again, intention and vision of outcome is important. 2. In terms of "soft notching," I would only recommend that type of layering if they wanted a *diagonal push back* or a " \ " shape to their layering. While I appreciate the desired effect, the result is more specific than simply blending the layers. At least for the sides. In the back, doing a 90⁰ section and cutting it downward will provide more of a traditional, "neutral" layering result which is more common (as is demonstrated in the video). Lovely video, I wanted to point out some specifics. For me, intention and desire of visual effect is everything. These are not "bad" techniques, just something to consider before utilizing and expecting a casual result.

What type of hair would these techniques be best for? Naturally straight medium to thick hair that needs the texture?

So looking raggedy is good? I'm not a stylist, but I like precise, polished cuts. This looks ike it needs a haircut when it's done.

Cool technique but won’t the diagonal cut increase the risk for split ends ? ( as opposed to straight cut)
@KenraProfessional4 жыл бұрын
Great question! As long as you are not dragging the shears down the hair or teasing as you are cutting into the hair, you shouldn't have the risk of creating split ends. This of course depends on the hair though. If the hair is in poor condition, it doesn't matter how you cut, you will still have split ends.
