I so love Phil Harding. God bless him. A gentle kind soul that enjoys life and is very passionate about his work, and his digs. He is a real legend in archelogy... Love the way he, and Mick Aston and Tony all got along and teases one another, but also worked so well together. I wish Phil was back for the New Time Team. Another gone now is Victor, whom gave us all his interpretations of what places and people might of looked like, from the way the digs went..

Its funny, up until about 2010 or so, my mental image of an archeologist was basically an Edwardian gentleman writing at a camp desk. Since about 2010 its been Phil Harding in shorts, wearing a tatty hat and leaning on a shovel/pick while peering at a trench.

I only know the rough, roll around in mud, primal af versions of archeologists tbh. Which fits with my personal aesthetic, as I'm basically feral myself lol. My dad comes from a farming family in romania, so I guess various aspects and connections with the earth and natural living is still fresh in my DNA. Anyways Phil is a legend, and the epitome of an archeological icon, as far as I'm concerned :3 and I adore him and have done so for decades 😌😌😌 He is one super cool dude. 😎

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I just LOVE Phil Harding! His instinct, knowledge, dialect, (pints!) and humor! 🤣 I ended up in Medicine, but I was probably the only 1st grader in my school that told the class that he wanted to become an Archaeologist from the get-go ("archaeology" was a word none of my classmates had even heard of…)! Watching all the episodes of Time Team, glued to the screen, Phil Harding always made me question whether Medicine was the right choice! That guy is a delight to listen to! In addition to being the BEST archaeology/history program ever aired, through Time Team I have learnt the History of the UK in the most magnificent and delightful way possible, and it really sparked an interest in related literature! And nobody has brought that History more to life than Phil, his trenches and lectures! 👍

I love how Phil goes about telling the story of Waterloo site and any other digs he has been associated with. He makes archeology exciting for the lay person. I got interested in this back when I was a teenager and spent a couple days out on Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmeron, New Mexico, where we dug for evidence of the indians who lived there many years before. Finding pottery and arrowheads as a 14 year old scout was such a tremendous experience. This was all brought back watching Phil on Time Team doing Flint knapping, where he carefully and with great patience taught another young archeologist, Matt, how to do this art. Thank you Mr. Phil!
