Very interesting episode. Proves they still had the ability to do good work in spite of the increasingly annoying writing. I did notice that after minute 27, they kept talking about Phi's trench, Phil found, etc. when just before that it was Raksha's trench and they never even named the fellow with the ponytail who was doing a lot of the digging. That's evidence of the deterioration of the producers' mindsets - previously they always gave credit to the people-with-names who were digging.

In the Middle Ages the Church was the main route to any kind of intellectual, political, government, educational, literary future. Wholly different role in society than the Church plays today. If you were not interested in a military career, the Church was your option as commerce and manufacturing were the province of the lower classes. Without wealth , how could people become educated and successful, to be able to help & supply others or spread the Good News? 2Cor 9:11, "Being *enriched in every thing to all bountifulness* , which causeth through us thanksgiving to God." When God blessed people He did so abundantly, like the New Testament miraculous catch of fish, with more than enough to sell and profit from. When Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes the multitude were filled, and there were leftovers for the boy to take back home. Jesus provided lots of high quality wine for the wedding feast. Mary and Joseph did not refuse the wealth given them by the Magi, which they most likely used for their trip to and sojourn in the safety of Egypt. Wealthy, faithful Joseph of Arimathea was able to provide the wrapped Jesus a stone grave that fulfilled the stone manger He was placed in at birth. Jesus did not chide Zacchaeus for his wealth from tax collecting, but His attention warmed Z's heart to become more honest. These are only a few of the examples of God's love and blessings for His (John 17:3, believing in Jesus - saved) children. God gives and multiplies, He does not take except to accept seed for the multiplying. God is good. We are made in God's image, which Jesus personified. What father wants his beloved children to struggle, hunger, be diseased, in pain, etc. Ephesians 2:6, "And hath raised us up together, and *made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus*, which is a wealthy place indeed.

the producers did meddle with the show in ways that the experts didn't like which caused mick aston to leave like cutting down the number of experts and what most would consider to be dumbing down. basically they tried to move the focus from what the original audience wanted to attract younger viewers that only watch stuff like big brother

Nathaniel Harari Well said. I was on a walking tour in Lincoln, UK, and was, as usual, the only non-Brit (I'm American). One woman asked the guide which king met that awful end at the behest of his French queen. He said, "Oh, the one who had the poker . . . " She nodded. He thought it might have been one of the Richards but he wasn't certain. I politely suggested it was Edward II. I was ignored. They continued and debated that perhaps she was thinking it was one of the Henrys. Again, I quietly suggested Edward II. Again, I was ignored. They concluded that they could not remember which king was murdered so brutally. I smile to think they all went home that evening and looked it up and thought, "Damn American was right!"

And I LOVED Lincoln, went on many wonderful walks there & spent 6 hours inside that cathedral & many more inspecting the exterior. I think it knocked Durham Cathedral out of first place for my favorite. Definitely on the list for my next visit.

Madeleine Brown The cathedral *is* fantastic, Lincoln is generally great for its heritage and surviving architecture from older times. In the north of the city is the Northgate which is a still standing Roman gate from 1900 years ago under which cars still drive. I don't know of any equivalent of that in other British cities.

By this point Tony Robinson has become an irksome oik with most of his input criticising others, and occasionally sucking up to them in narration added afterwards in order to try to right his wrongs. Shame the series deteriorated to this extent
