We had a Massey 135 diesel with Multi-Power growing up. Dad always warned us to keep it in 'high' coming down the hills, but of course we wanted to go fast...so sometimes we would leave put it in 'low' half way down the hill. My little brother got a little too brave one day and put it in 'low' a little too soon, came to the turn for the lane a little too hot, hit the brakes and of course one locked up on the gravel...he just about rolled that tractor taking the corner that fast. Unfortunately for him, dad saw him do it :) . I have that tractor in my shed now, it runs but needs a restoration....

farming tech sure has changed over the past 20yrs. no wonder farms were much smaller back in the day, it would take you a day just to get across a large farm with that thing. im sure there are still lots of old farmers still using equipment like that. it makes me wonder if that is a contributing factor in the several decades old trend of older farmers packing up shop and selling their fields because it is too costly and a steep learning curve to buy and use modern equipment. interesting vid, thanks.

I know it's convenient but ether is very hard on diesel engines when staring. If you do use it try to have engine turning over before spraying the ether in....good alternative is using a gasoline soaked rag the gasoline vapers are not as hard as the ether

Many farms have their own airstrips here in New Zealand, even farms only a few hundred acres. On steeper country like we have a lot of, a plane can be the only way to spread fertiliser or spray when it is too steep for a tractor or truck to work on safely.
