Joe, not a comment about the video, although excellent as always. I just wanted to mention the fundraiser you set up for the lady involved in the recent hit and run. At the time of writing I see that despite a target of a very generous £250, more £4,000 has been donated! In this day and age of increasing costs, prices, taxes as well as all the other nonsense that's happening in the world it's heartening to see people like you and all those who generously gave to help someone in need. Proof that not all heroes wear capes. Some wear Shifting Metal hoodies, T-shirts and beanies. Keep up the good work!

I don’t know whether to write this or not. You clearly want to keep improving the business so I hope it’s helpful. My feeling if I came to BM would be that the office looks scruffy and cluttered. More like a workshop office than a car sales office. E.g. the engine ontop of a cupboard, a load of old number plates on the wall, the desks are old/messy. Ps. I’ve actually got a couple of spare clean white desks and grey office chairs from my office in Poole. You can have them for no charge if you would like?

It's an interesting way of telling your staff what you want when you don't even work in that area and then your staff kick off. Maybe you should consult them before you start changing things. As you said last night I had an epiphany and I want this change and I want that changed when you don't even work in there. Maybe you should ask them so you can come to compromise because they're the ones that work in there telling your staff I don't care that's the way is happening. It's giving I pay your wages so you will do as I say or they will be consequences. Something along those lines. It's very workman old school way of treating your staff.
@ShiftingMetal9 ай бұрын
I see your point but you don’t work in this business and maybe you’ve never been an employer. You certainly don’t see the push back I get with all sorts of things, if I agreed to everything staff want it would 8 hours of non stop tea and smoke breaks..
@timebandit1259 ай бұрын
yeah I get what you mean with if you agree to everything your staff says then there would be brakes all the time however, buses always say that if they listen to every demand of their staff, they will want such outlandish demands. They would not be a fair compromise, but that's not realistic. And staff don't ask for those kind of things like breaks all the time. Those aren't realistic things and even when I worked in university with over 10,000 staff, people don't ask for those kind of demands so that's a bit silly. However, maybe it's the way you talk all the time that you're saying in comes across a bit. Defensive along those lines and a little bit I'm in the boss you do is your told. But with everything there's always time for healthy discussion because your staff may have a good opinion about something rather than you telling them yours and then not having their say but I'm only commenting on what is edited and seen in the video, so I'll probably don't have full context of the situation because of the way of the edit.

So are you getting rid of the service for mechanical work to public and just focus on doing your own stock or getting rid all together? Personally i understand the not doing public but to enable better profit etc surely you still need your own in house mechanics for your own stock rather than outsource and have to work around others priority list and there own costs. May have wrong end of stick but great insight and enjoy the real behind the scences as most people have an image of all car dealers being either delboys selling cut and shuts or slick smarmy sales reps eager for there bonus so its refresing with you and chops you show there are genuine fair dealers who arent going to have you over however are making good consistant profit with returning trade. I personally love having a repeat customer as it shows im doing somthing right. Take a pound a day for life or 10 pound for a one off deal you get my view. Regarding the young lad you were talking about managing workloads efficently maybe he needs your blueprint of the right way of working as he seems he just needs some guidance blueprints of the right way of working i.e the way you want the buisness to work can then be transfered across the business so everyone is on the same page just an idea worked many a time for me when i also explain the vision and what i expect my staff and business to project to clients as its all in the blueprints of the way we work 😉 All the best keep going
