We used to pick with a 1 row new idea and a 2000 gas ford, it was a load on it, but it handled it.

I always enjoyed picking ear corn. Our picker didn't have a husker on it but since we ground ours into cattle feed it just meant less hay we had to add to the feed.

We picked about 7 - 8000 bushel of ear corn a year with a New Idea mounted on a 3010 John Deere diesel. Ground it for cattle feed.

What row spacing is that corn planted at? From the video it looks like 30 inch spacings, but it looks like the picker is a wide row.

What would you use ear corn for compared to shelling corn?

It's been 30yrs since I've farmed, but, since no one has answered you I'll tell you what we used to use it for: A small portion would be used to feed some pasture pigs, some of it would be ground up a couple times a week to feed to our pasture cattle, but, the majority of it would be stored outside, ground up part way through the winter then stored in a silo to be fed to the cattle we had in our feed lot.
