Time To Prep For Warmer Weather!

It's finally getting warm enough to open up the garage door and let the sun shine in!! So I did just that while I did a cleanup and shuffled some bikes around. And, as tradition would have it, it's time to put my pride and joy back on the lift for its springtime once-over! Sunny riding days are in the wake!

I love that Shovel. I rode my KLR 650 to the airport today and watched a total eclipse. There were about 150 aircraft that showed up full of people to watch it. It was quite a religeous experience. We have nothing to affect the movements of Heavenly bodies. Only God can.

The cold air is hanging on here. Just cold enough to make it hard to ride without heavy gear. 65ish. Cold going down the road. Its been hanging around for 3 weeks. About 10 more days it should be gone for good.

So happy that spring has arrived up in your B.C.! It's been hitting in the 70's where I live. It is nice to ride without all the cold winter gear on! I'm able to ride year round so my bikes stay up and running. I did do a oil change and new front tire on my Scout last week. So that should carry me through to fall. Good to see ol' Johnny Crash getting to sit in the warm sunshine. Can't wait to see you riding your shovel and johnny crash! Get riding and stay safe in your beautiful B.C.! Peace!

Yes it suddenly got warm here too about 70 degrees which I have been planting my potatoes for about a month and a half but I put more in the ground.. thanks for bringing us along and this great video.. yeah I finally did get done with the paint and kind of assembling my shovelhead and took around a bit of course now the clutch slips..

Hey Moe, I just got those brake disks priced out at the post office and they will be somewhere between 40 and 50 bucks Canadian to have shipped, which is somewhere between $29 and $36 USD. They are two matching front rotors off an early 80s dual disk wide glide, and they have tapered bolt holes. They are both used and have a bit of wear, but still usable. Sorry it took so long to get the shipping estimate, I have been out of town quite a bit. Maybe email me if you decide you want them. [e-mail]

Had the springer out in March but had about 12 inches of snow after that. Now waiting for the Panhead heads to be done. Just finished my first 1947 trike tranny rebuild (it actually works). Will go behind a 1954 "G" motor which I just started on. Too bad you have to play games with the insurance in Canada. Pretty straight forward here. Ride safe and enjoy!

Yea the insurance situation here really blows, and they keep raising the prices too 😒 The price of insurance is the the only reason I don't keep my bikes on the road year round cause why pay 130 bucks a month if I can't even ride every day.

Dadgum Angel, I knew by watching you moving stuff around in your garage/shop that you were cramped for space. However, I had no idea that you had accumulated so many bikes and I must say a nice collection they are. But nothing out shines the Shovelhead, if that is original paint though on your Sportster and with it being a 30 year old collector now that personally I'd keep it original. From what I was able to see the paint looked to be in pretty good shape. About a month ago I went through the same thing with my garage getting all of the bikes out and getting them dusted off and getting the spring maintenance projects done. My next investment is going to have to be a lift table as soon as they go on sale. Hopefully you were able to get the crankcase bolt out without too much trouble, so you'll be ready to go once the temperatures right. BTW, from what I saw you actually made a pretty good haul with the free stuff from the swap meet and you'll find a use for it or someone else who can. Keep the throttle twisted and the rubber side down. TX Ted

In which you comment on the original slides in their original order, commenting in regard to all the info on the slide as well as the photos... I'll take a drain that's done up too tight vs a drain that was NOT done up tight enough, works its way out, pukes oil all over everything in sight, seizes up your motor, catches fire, and generally makes a nuisance of itself!
