As a Lee county resident who survived Ian,if they tell you to leave LEAVE! I never ever evacuated. Stayed for all of em. Ian.. Ian changed me for life. There are no words to describe the horrors that were going on in and around my home..and we were considered the lucky ones. Don’t risk it. It’s not worth it. The helplessness and terror is unmatched, and it’s prolonged. You don’t even care about yourself after a while. You start worrying about your family and what their deaths might be like, and if we’ll all be found together, or found at all. And there’s nothing you can do but sit and watch the water rise…

@BMarie774 That is why they tell people to leave, they know more than we do. Why would people risk it is beyond me. I went through Hugo in 89, Andrew in 92 and Katrina in 05, left for all three and will never stay for any hurricane Cat 3 or higher.

I'm in an area where I don't have to worry about flooding. I haven't evacuated for any of them and don't plan to this time. Only worry I have is losing power and I'm well prepared for that . If you are in an area that has experienced flooding before and don't leave you're just plain ignorant. What's hilarious is them telling you that you don't have to go hundreds of miles just find a hotel outside the flood zones. Truth is unless you go to a government run shelter chances of finding a room within a hundred miles is about zero. The problem with shelters is they don't allow you to leave until they decide it's safe. Not a great option if you have pets. My home has survived several cat four and five storms and if I could survive several hours in the eye wall of Ian I feel pretty safe staying this time as well.

If your not from Florida or an outsider.... Just stop.... The only people that need to worry is homeless people an flood zone people... Other than that.... Ur the reason people buy all the toilet paper ... Ur the reason people panick for no reason when they're not even in a flood zone.... I was in Florida visiting family last year in Pinellas Park during Idalia. We had a small amount of wind and no water damage. The day before, I went 10 miles north and closer to the beach to pick up a few things for my aunt. After Idalia hit, that area was under a lot of water. Hope everyone heads their specific advisories and warnings.

A tip for using a Tape measure. Release the catch and feed the tape line in by hand. Don't just release the catch and let the tape go in on its own. You could cut yourself very badly. BTW never happened to me. But I've seen it happen to many. Be safe out there.

One thing I've learned about hurricane reporting is you've got models that give answers from "nothing is going to happen" to "planetary destruction." You have no clue, do you? The reporters then do everything they can to cause a panic and hope for the worst for views. A little truth would be nice.

It's the new floridians they panic and leave us with nothing. It's ridiculous. You're only supposed to get enough stuff for 3 days. Even if it was an emergency, stores and restaurants open to make sure you're fed and abletogetaome AC. Gas trucks pour in, and they never leave us without for long. You don't have to be stingy. Some of us have kids. Be respectful to other people living in your communities. Please 🙏

Exactly.

You should prepare long before today, especially if you have kids. Why wait when you could see this coming Saturday?
@zenlenzmediaАй бұрын
@Ender7j Why on earth would I fill tons of gallons of tanks up with gas on Saturday? And leave people without gas for the work week? Make that make sense?
@francespelletier175Ай бұрын
I believe everyone has had sufficient time to prepare for this storm, but you still have those that wait till the last minute to get and do what they should have done as soon as they began talking about this storm potentially becoming a hurricane. If you've lived here in Florida for some time you should know how quickly store shelves empty the closer these storms get. I went out a week ago and got everything I thought I would need during this storm. Stores get packed with customers the closer the storm gets and shelves empty quickly due to people being in panic mode!
@Ender7jАй бұрын
@@zenlenzmedia why would you take ‘tons of gas’? How could you personally take so much as to impact the regional supply? These are the implications you gathered from the words I did not use in my post.
