I'm sure the first few days (weeks) were challenging but the cows looked content and eventually things will go very smoothly! What an awesome new facility! 👍 Thanks for taking us your viewers along! 😎

Hi Andrew, would have been nice to actually see the flooding on the floor and the water trough float issue. Also showing the scraper in action would have been good too.

You were right not to push the cows for more than 2 weeks. Letting them learn is more important than an hour longer between milkings. But also not having too many cows per robot helps a lot
@dschefers97002 жыл бұрын
When training new cows/fresh cows try having the robot room darked out. Seems to cause less distractions. Your setup looks really good.

From the little I saw of the water trough, the gap underneath seems to be small for the cow to get in her tongue. Could it be the guard that is loose and obstructs the float sometimes?
@FreshAirFarmer2 жыл бұрын
I'll show them closer in another video. The guard isn't the loose part, but wonder if some plumbing tape might hold the float on a little tighter to keep curious tongues from hitting it.

Congratulations on the new barn. Looks great. How many are you milking?
@FreshAirFarmer2 жыл бұрын
We'll have room for 85-90 milking cows, plus all the young stock under 1 roof.

Awesome barn congrats 👍 So now it's all running for a bit ...what are the biggest plusses and frustrations with robots? We milk 190 cows with just me and my wife. It's very difficult finding good help around here . Do you think robots would be a relief for us? or are we getting tight to the barn even more? Just milking and clean up is 6 hours a day right now ... Thanks in advance

For us we really like the flexibility. I'd say we are in the barn a little less than before, but not a lot - but the work itself is much easier on the body. You're not exhausted from milking before you start with the rest of the work! There is the odd phone call. In six months I've been woken up in the night twice and had to come home from lunch one other time. With just that I'd never say I'm tied to the barn more. Hard to say if they are right for you. I know they were the perfect choice for us.

can you make a barn tour video please
@FreshAirFarmer2 жыл бұрын
You bet Hayden! Although I hope you don't mind waiting a little longer. We've got a few more things to tidy up and change around, then we'll give the full tour.

Can you do a full video of the cow milking process please
@HenkAnnieNaald2 жыл бұрын
When we switched to robots we noticed the cows get used to a robot quicker then the farmer. At first milking we put a empty detergent jug between back of the cow and gate. Makes the first milking a lot easier.

Sounds familiar! I've said it's taken longer for me to get into a new routine than them.

Hiw are you finding the robots with Heifers??
@FreshAirFarmer Жыл бұрын
They do really well. Maybe a bit nuts for milking one, but by number 3 it's like they've been doing it their whole life.
@middaynapping7840 Жыл бұрын
God to hear, thinking of installing a fullwood packo or lely as opposed to the delaval or gea, they're manual clusters aren't something I want to have to use really, so hoping that the robustness of the lely /packo cluster arm will handle a Heifer that wants to kick like mad

that`s one DRAMATIC farmer with a piitchiiiiiii voice - calm down dude - you make your own cows produce less 🤣🤣🤣🤣
