You get 3 new beavers with each new house, one from that house and two from the two houses the beavers moved out of and occupied the third space before. And god dammit, I‘ve watched too much CR, I started singing at "Making my way“ (it is ok if you dont get it) Sunflowers are more a treat than a food, maybe look at it that way. Additional wellbeing when you have enough room to farm.

The Folktales are so classic 😊 it's a homey vibe doing a playthrough with them. Other people already suggested a water pump at the new reservoir, and it might be good to build before the drought ends. That way you don't have to wait for that section to fill up before you can pump water for thirsty beavers. Water management is one of my favourite early game challenges, and I think you're doing well with getting medium tanks so fast. Blunders make for a level of real time drama/entertainment that you just can't find in scripted modern media 😂

You should build a second floodgate up on that second tier so you can store water up there and when your ground level reservoir runs out/gets low you can inject some more water into it! 52:35 It says right in the description that it can be opened or closed at will. (I understand that we are still restricted to normal water source physics unlike the Iron Teeth)

Sunflowers are a useful occasional +1. Carrot storage is going to fill up anyway, so you don't lose anything by planting less carrots and more sunflowers. Wouldn'T feel that way for stuff that needs processing, but as they don't...

NOTE : max greenify area from water is 16 tiles if at max hydration.. BTW, The reasons your wheels are so variable is because the dams before them, then work in bursts... as well as the water pumps before the wheels sucking up the water so it's not consistently flowing over the dams :D

Having unharvested trees is a waste. More log storage will give you a bigger buffer when you build. That buffer will help prevent having to wait on trees to grow to have logs and will help with preventing disruptions to production chains. You can always just devote more land to trees as well, but it helps when land is limited. Love the series, can’t wait to see zip lines on that map.
@dragade101
@dragade101 14 сағат бұрын
Maybe a little long term goal: You can add some additional levees to isolate your pumps from pumping all of the water by the farmland. Thus have a mini pumping area upstream. Downstream will be levees and floodgates to hold 1 m high of water that will only evaporate and never can be pumped. (I’m not a fan of how far the water storage is from the pumps. Even if you have haulers, the pumps don’t work as well as they should be. This does kind of require haulers, cause of how the land use was designated but that is your style, having haulers to solve suboptimal storage placement.)

The Livestream's for congress, the VOD's for progress. It's kinda his thing...that and the fact that some of chat is usually hyper focused on derailing the playthrough. It's a good time.

I play folktails a decent amount and imo sunflowers are more of a luxury food. You just dont get the yield per tiles, i think. Ive never tested it, but any time i plant them early i end up with a lot of potatoes, carrots and spadderdock and the sunflowers just dont keep up. Putting a few in to get some bonus wellbeing probably isnt a bad idea. I just dont know that i'd rely on them for keeping beavers alive.

Hey JC remember you can use stream gauges to automate your fluid dumps, floodgates, and possibly the water pumps. At least until the mod you use is updated. Also might be able to link a stream gauge with the “exercise wheel”, but I’m not entirely certain about that, I’ve never seen anyone try to link it to one.
@thomasfplm
@thomasfplm 14 сағат бұрын
Isn't that automation a mod?
@TheDevilsKid676
@TheDevilsKid676 13 сағат бұрын
@ no, the mod he uses is more convenient because it allows for a more advance setup, than if he were to use the stream gauge. The gauge itself is a more basic setup. Meaning you can only connect a finite amount of buildings to it. As well as only dictate wether or not something works based off height/contamination lvl. The mod uses a more advanced setup allowing to fine tune things based off of not only height/contamination lvl but by also utilizing something based of the cycle that someone’s in. Keep in mind this just my knowledge from watching JC play using the mod. I don’t personally have any experience playing this. So I’m sure there is videos that can better explain the differences. Or someone else can clarify this better.

You need all 4 lumberjacks near the forester turned on / for that many trees you need 5 if they were all oaks to make it so the forester is never sitting around and avoid trees sitting over night

26:45 I think you mean that 1/3 are children. 14 adults and 7 children for a total of 21. 😂 27:22 It might be interesting to have a second layer of levies and dams a bit further down the river, so more of your crops are irrigated during droughts. 28:45 It would be interesting if the wind on the windmills were not all the same, and maybe would change according to the amount of "air blocks" in the same level as the axis.

I kind of agree about the Sunflower Seeds... i feel like its more of a mid-late game crop that needs a LOT of field space. Sure its an easy unprocessed food choice but the yield doesnt make it worth it unless you have large fields and many farms/farmers. I feel like its just for the Well Being bonus for completion sake.

8:00 That forester is doing a whole lot of nothing with the huge amount of empty arable land in its range. As I pointed out in your last livestream, the biggest/most recurring problem I've seen with your earlygame is _underplanting trees._ If you have green space in range of a forester or farmhouse, and no immediate plans for using it for something else, _plant something on it._ If you have to delete the plants later, so be it, that takes almost no time at all. If they die during a drought or badtide, you've still lost nothing compared to having idle beavers and not planting them. You'd much rather have the extra crops/logs than not, and even just one harvest of an extra 20 tiles of food or pines is meaningful at that stage. Early on, I'd recommend filling extra space with pines (if in range of a forester), any food you're not making a surplus of (if in range of a farmhouse), or even something you're not making and don't need to process, like sunflower seeds as an extra wellbeing boost and a bit of extra food. Could even plant and store some wheat, just for the sake of having it once you get the gristmill. Edit: Oh good, you noticed 5 minutes later. Not the best reasoning (again, don't wait to badtide proof it, plan for the worst but leave room for the best. 30:20 Actually, it definitely will. It's not a max of 135hp, it's 135hp/cms. Meaning with a flow strength of 3, it'll produce 405... except that it doesn't quite get all the flow in a 4-wide river segment, but between the two wheels, that's how much you should be getting (minus a bit bc evaporation and pumping, so call it 360~380 between the two)

I had suggested that berries be included in the recipe for maple pastries.. I mean, sure, put it in medicine too, but the way the game goes, one basically tries to avoid any possible contamination especially early on when that can be a game-ender. So berries mostly pointless for folktails. Maybe they should implement fertilizer into the game, where you intentionally kill crops or bushes to make compost from them
