I would absolutely stay in the basement. Space even warehouse space is expensive. I was in the computer repair business and rent was $3200 a month, so when things went from desktops to laptops to tablets/phones I finally had to close after 22 years. I'm convinced if I was working out of my garage I'd still be in business today. Retro gaming won't be around forever, I don't think it's going away tomorrow, but to sign a 5-year lease on warehouse space sounds too dangerous to me. You're successful because you're low overhead. Also, employees aren't as motivated to work as you are, there's a dwindling rate of return the more and more employees you have (i used to have up to 5 at a time). It was always frustrating because they just didn't do things 100% to the quality levels I wanted nor output the amount per day that I'd expect. (and they were great employees, it's just not the same if you're not the owner)

For your setup, you should really think about just using the plastic shelving with a wood sheet onto. That way you get extra space underneath + extra stability. The folding tables are not only flimsy, but super inefficient on space.

The area where you have your current shelving would be perfect for a few shelves on tracks and rollers. that way you can stack them deep and just move the shelving to get to the section you need to. I'd estimate you could fit 4x the games that same space.

Hey buddy, have you thought about just buying a smaller house or a condo to use for your work space, home value will only increase long term and you can rent the new place to your business for a tax write off since you'll be using it mostly for business or entirely. I do it and man, its the best thing ive ever done and I make more money because the condo has nearly doubled in value the last few years.

Good idea, but in all fairness, 2 houses equal 2 places to maintain even if it's only mental real estate, let alone physical effort. He already mentioned in a previous video he actually "sort've" regrets buying a house because of all the upkeep it takes. And when you combined that with his responsibilities as a business owner, he truly sees the advantages of renting versus owning being a self-employed person. If he didn't have aspirations to start a family, he would just be a renter a little longer and focus more time on building the business instead of mowing the lawn or fixing random things that break.

In the same video, he mentioned that it was a bit of a chore or a task to call all these different kinds of people to fix stuff that a landlord would do for him if he was a renter. Plus, he likes the very short commute to work mentioned in this video if I'm not mistaken. Sounds like he just wants to put all his efforts into the 3 businesses he already has while maintaining a healthy work/life balance. So he has no room to add a 4th business, which would be a "rental property" even if he is the only tenant. Either way, 2 houses are twice the responsibilities even if you hire all the help in the world.

Small sacrifices surely can make a big difference, but also being open-minded and willing to take other people's opinions go a long way as well. Your way isn't the only way to sucess. We both know Calab will retire a millionaire without ever owning more than 1 house.

I’m confused I mean it’s one thing to be a reseller, but over pricing things DKOldies style is scum bag material. Btw, I live extremely comfortable and have a collection worth more than some people’s homes so don’t even try your “jealous” route that some of you like to take.
