Shaq Fu here, we've had a couple matches over the last few months that have turned into absolute back and forth drawn out brawls and have legitimately been some of my favorite matches in recent memory, made all the more fun by the fact that they're against you. Keep up the great work, love the content

Glad to see the opening clip is the Ol' Red Counterspell. Even when CGB is playing the two colors most diametrically opposed to blue, he still manages to keep their important spells from resolving.

At 34:12 you had priority between first and regular strike. Since it sure seemed like they didn't have it, you could have raged and shocked for the win

5:21 "Patience" - Never the answer. This is BO1, you go face as hard as possible and ram the rest of the cards in whatever inch you find later. If you're lucky you trigger an instinctual gag reflex in them and they hit concede before their next turn

He's a control player at heart so he forgets player at 2 life is easier to kill, especially with one blocker. Even with life link they would have been at 5 after their attack which is much easier to it than 23 he let them heal to

overtgored! letsgo! gruul smash! I do enjoy watching you try to pilot aggro, sometimes the control brain makes mistakes, but sometimes it plays out an aggro line that is neat

Wow, the Mono Red vs. mono red (not calling these decks Gruul or Rakdos) was great. Starting player won by vomiting his one and two drops faster. Such skillful Magic rarely has been seen

I would love to see you play the Simic crab/terror deck (the one shaqfu played). I’m not sure if it’s an entertaining deck to watch but I’ve always had fun with it and it’s a great way to rank while trying to collect wildcards since it’s rather cheap.
@LordZurkov4 күн бұрын
In the game versus Shaqfu, I think you were playing much too conservatively. You had a chance to trade your Heartfire for a Terror instead of chumping (arguably good to save the Veil to protect from bounce, but removing a Terror and getting in 2 more death damage is big), and you definitely should have forced them to bounce or die with the impulsed Rage. A bounce on the attacker wouldn't have lost you any resources (Rage was use-it-or-lose-it, the mouse couldn't block, and it had haste), and drawing out a bounce there could have stopped them from bouncing something more important later (e.g.: blockers or an attacker with real resources behind it).

I realize watching these decks that they are so, SO boring. I don't see how people grind with these. If CGB, argubly the best MTG entertainer, can't make them seem fun then they are just stuck being boring.

I made a deck similar to this during bloomburrow, but the one day I brought it, I faced a homebrew simic landfall deck (the guy called it simic burn, because the idea was to play a bunch of OTJ ping lands and copy them with Doppelgang) and a selesnya mounts deck. I felt so bad for playing such a tryhard deck on a fun day, and I don’t like playing with pump spells, so I took it apart and never touched it again

Isn't Royal Treatment strictly better in these kind of decks? You get hexproof, a sticky +1/+1, but added Ward 1 for the rest of the time the creature is out, and something to sacrifice against decks that like to require you to sac things (Viper, Valgavoth, Braids, etc.), or to Bargain to Torch. Admittedly it doesn't stack +1/+1s like Snakeskin Veil, but how often is that an issue?
@BenOrBreak4 күн бұрын
Doesn't stack with the roles from Monstrous Rage either, which are a much bigger part of the deck.
@undahraadaundahraada55943 күн бұрын
@@BenOrBreak Well, a dead DPS does no DPS... There are points when that would matter a lot (after blockers but before any damage), but that's not generally when people target your creatures. I have to concede that losing Trample for *later* when you could have it for the lifetime of the creature could be a real problem though.
