My guess was that the little mustache twitch was him smelling the metallic scent of his own blood. Ekko seems to be the outlier as the operator of the time machine, Jinx even wipes away some of Heimerdinger's fur off his face, so it would stand to reason that some blood would have also gotten on him.

What I think happens is Powder eventually discovers hextech and sets the same or similar events in motion leading to the destruction of Piltover. That assumes Ekko, Heimer and Jayce travel to the same timeline. But either way, why would Powder want to go to the OU, where it’s implied everything is terrible and her alter-ego is someone Ekko fears and despises? And as far as she knows, going to another timeline means she takes over her alter-ego’s body, it’s not like there will be two of her running around.

If powder invents hextech in this timeline the result will be vastly different as there are no conflicts that would be amplified by it.

In order for that to happen she has to realize and come to the conclusion, which she most likely would, that the Ekko she was spending time with and doing all this with wasn't really her Ekko. I'm sure she has some idea after seeing our Ekko. She'd also have to realize that the painting of Vi that Ekko did wasn't because of some dream he had but because thats how she looks in his timeline because shes alive. Would be interesting to see this Powder interact with our Vi.

I assume if he goes back further, zdrive explodes and heimer gets kaboomed. So he doesnt zdrive doesnt blow and the other "past" didnt happen so heimer didnt get kaboomed. Heimer is affected first since he is nearer to the zdrive compared to powder. Spoiler though I doubt it if you are watching this: It also semi explains why he knew the zdrive would blow up and threw it at viktor.

The only one exploding was a (somewhat) magical creature. Powder was fine in the back. It is interesting that whatever happens behind that rune it effects different creatures differently. Viktor didn't explode when Ekko went back longer (someone said 7 seconds)

The further back you go, the more power it develops. There is a shock wave of arcane energy when going back. In game, it has the same effect where Ekko causes an explosion im a small radius when going back 4 seconds.

Heimerdinger exploding is a cool way to explain why Ekko creates a time explosion after he chronobreaks in league. This is also referenced further in the final fight in Arcane when he escapes the primordians >:)
