TIMELAPSE | Epic Rebuild of Abandoned Off-Grid Cabin

32 working days until we MOVED IN.
We found an Off-Grid cabin in the middle of the woods in Sweden.
An abandoned cabin with hole in the roof, rotten beams and an overgrown garden.
When quenching our eyes - this was paradise! It just needed a little fixing.
Come along on an off-grid restoration WILD adventure!
Our names are Annie & Julian, and we live in Denmark.
We have two renovated cottages in Sweden, where we stayed during the build of this cabin.
In the end of the video, we reveal how many working days we spent rebuilding this tiny gem - the number surprised me!

Just an after thought but it might have been a good idea to have put down a vapour barrier under the main floor. Moisture from the ground will eventually rot the wood.

Yes, that makes sense. We chose not to, because we wanted to build the house as natural (minimal plastic) as possible. So I dug pretty deep, to have air under. Love, Annie

I like the roof. Those were individual pieces of clay tiles? Please explain. Also, abandoned cabin. What does that mean? Any owner anywhere? What if they come back is my first thought. Thank you for this video.

Nobody had lived there for at least 20 years. It just stood there, getting more and more rotten inside, because of a hole in the roof. Remember the man in the red t-shirt on the ATV driving us with the roof tiles? That’s the previous owner 😊 He has been so helpful. We had tea with him and his wife on New Years. Everyone in the neighborhood nearby have been so positive that we have saved this little house ❤️ All the best, Annie

You're right, it would have been easier, cheaper and faster to build a house from scratch 😄 But we wanted to see how much of it we could save. Otherwise the cottage would just fall to the ground.
