Dark as midnight in that storm. Epic to have been lucky enough to witness.

After a stint working for emergency operations I realized it's best to just call then "oh shit sirens " since depending on where you live, can sound for a whole lot of reasons. And for all of them, hide, is the best response.

its crazy that the neighborhood shown in the video didnt seem to have any damage, while mine has tons of tree damage. maybe because we are on a hill 🤔

OPPD is telling us it will take 7-10 days to restore electricity to all of us. Temperatures in the 90-s. People have to stay with relatives who were spared the outage including animals. Our governor should have done more. He could have gotten OPPD help! And what is our mayor doing to help?

Expect more situations like this in the future. Increased summer temperatures in the Great Plains will lead to unstable atmospheric conditions- more intense isolated thunderstorms/derechos. We have had hundreds of thousands without power for several days here in northeast Ohio from one string of strong isolated storms. Strengthening the power grids is of interest to everyone in the country, but costs too much money and bureaucratic time for the politicians, unfortunately
